Wow!!! What a Late Model RACE!!!! CCMP Final

This was the last race of the year. And what a year it was. We made the rules so that we had 5 different types of Late Models:
Limited Lates
Goodyear Challenge
ASA Lates
FAST Lates
Super Lates
All won excxept for the Supers. Car count average was 26 with a high of 41 cars (DID NOT INCLUDE THE COUNT OF THE SUPER LATE MODEL RACES) at this years 150. And we are looking at the rules for the 1-19-08 CCMP Memorial 150!!!!

The Sportsman will be testing the product in this week Sportsman Challenge 50.

WOW What a race

I ecspecially liked the part after the race in driver interviews when Joe Winchel apoligized to Cody for crashing him and taking him out of contintion for the win. Using the excuse that "The tracks allow it so I am going to do it" was great, this is excatly what we need to teach our young drivers.( NOT )

Joe Winchel you go ahead and crash the people that try to pass you and we will continue to teach our driver to be an aggreesive driver but not a DIRTY driver.

Congradulations on the win you earned that one. No hard feelings, we lean something everytime we get a chance to race veterans drivers like yourself, thats what short track racing is all about.

Key the phrase " And the fans go wild!! "

Not picking on Bobby here, as it's not hs fault. But WHY in the world do we have 5 dfferent sets of rules for Late Model classes?

There should be only two... Open Motors and Crates.

Little wonder the car counts on all the asphlat tracks are hurting. 5 late Model rule books, 2 in the Modifieds, at least 3 in the Sprint cars, lord knows how many for the "Monte Carlo" classes, a few different Truck rules (not to mention the Kids classes), at least 2 different styles of Mini-Stocks, and it's ANYBODY'S guess what a Sportsman car even IS.

At least on dirt, this kind of crap is the exception and not the rule!

Good races?

I guess if you have a Spec motor or a Crate motor, you might think it is good racing, but for us that have run under the Limited Late Model rules for the last two and a half years, it's not even close. The top 5 and sometimes top ten in qualifying are all Spec and Crate. The top 3 and usally top 5 finishes are Spec and Crate. Meanwhile, the people who have raced there for years, that kept the class going, get shafted. Here is the problem. The Spec motor weights the same as the LLM, but they get a 4 barrell. The Crate motor is a little down on power, but get it back with a 4 barrell, and they weigh 200 pounds lighter. Sounds fair, right. Bobby, look at this from our point of view. Before you took over, I qualified in the top 10 every race and sometimes top 7. I lead in three different races and finished in the top 10 every race. Now, I can't make top 10 in Q, and I out last the crash fest to get a top 10 half the time. You probably don't know this, but of all the cars that I ran with every month, two years ago, only Fox still runs. Your rules drove every other LLM away. Look at it. It ain't right.

The way it was?

When I started working on this approch LeRoys CCS Limited class was down to 10 or 12 cars. The FAST ASA Late Models were at 13 to 15. There were no Goodyear or spec, nor Supers. And at the end of the first season. We had and average of 24 to 26 cars. It is always tuff at the end of the year for car count. But, we are looking at another FINE adjustment to the rules. And are looking forword to the 2008 season. It will be the last weekend of the month and each month will end with a BANG!!! Call me if you have any ideas. My phone is alway on 813-817-7223.
