  • OK let's ask...

Not to bring up sore subjects, BUT!!!

What ever happened to beginning racers starting out in in Strictly (or similar class) and then after getting some seat time and experience they are allowed to move up to a higher class... I am not saying permanently staying there, just a partial season is better than none. It seems that racers who move up like that are much better at racing... Plus they gain knowledge of what is happening to their car and/or truck that they move up too...

Just a silly opinion catcher poll or is such a silly thing like gaining experience foreign these days...

    Have a great day all...

I was thinking the same thing Saturday night at NSS. The quarter midget kids jump from over built lawn mower engines to V8 trucks on a half mile. Talk about more money than brains...Thank you Napcar.

You are about 30 years late with that Idea. In the old days you ran a NOVICE car when you started out and if you won to much you where MOVED up to Sportsmen cars. Same body bigger motor and a carb. You cut your teeth then moved up to the modified, came body, BIGGER motor and injection. That was the way it was until the politically correct crowd wanted to make everyone equal. SO daddy buys a big block and sticks the snot nose kid in it with his "NO FEAR" T shirt. With some luck he does not have to bury the kid in the "T" shirt.
There is no way in todays world to have a feeder system since nobody has the smarts to understand they must crawl before they run.
Did you know that you must PROVE you can drive to be allowed to enter the Daytona 500?
I THINK USAC still has a rookie deal for the midgets and sprints where you turn some laps under the eye of the veterans to see if they want to let you play in their yard.

The Indy cars have an observer system thats been in place for most of the history of Indy cars . Your test consists of segments run at progressivly higher speeds , and the observers are former and current drivers . The NHRA has a similar system , progressivly faster runs in front of current drivers . In both cases the drivers have the authority to send you home for more experience if they sense you're not ready .
My concern has always been one of safety . Racing is dangerous , and doubly so for a rookie who is only thirteen or so . Knowing what can happen , i'm not sure i could put my young son or daughter in in a full size race car without giving them a long training period . But thats just my opinion . Others have put their young kids into cars and the kids have done a great job and gone on to be champions .

why is it that all the kids from go carts and quarter midgets race trucks? is it because they dont have to shift?

and what ever did happen to starting out in strictly stock?

I quit fishing because there was no one handing out money at the docks when i got back. Why did you quit racing?

I do believe their are a couple of factors in that Michael... One of the factors is the "cool" factor... You have to remember that it is cool to be in one of those fast trucks... LOL... and hmmm let's see, could it be that a stick shift is something that most don't know how to run for several more years.. Mind you, I do know a couple of the truck guys and a couple are pretty damn good as drivers and people who work on their own truck, but their are others that I just wish... Urghh.... Oh enough ranting for the moment... Bring back Strictly as the entry level class, I know it isn't cool, but dag nabit it is a whole lot of fun and is an awesome learning experience for folks...

Is it just me or am I being "politically correct" in my statements this week... Boy oh boy... ROFLMAO...

And you never know, it might just be the money factor that allows a such a big jump...

              Have a great day all...
