Hey Bubba, Johanna Long won the Blizzard opener at Five Flags. For some reason, I like her. She did a good job at Speedweeks in February.

Thanks Chuck, yea, i listened online, was more interesting than I thought with just sound. I agree, unlike most kids who's daddy got them setup, I seem to like her. She handled herself well at NSS - what i liked was when she got roughed up by Choquette, so didnt make an ass out of herself and try to take him out, she just got back on it and finished the race. Eventually, she will turn the tables on him. Seems to have the "patient" sort of talent. Freddy Query in the pits dont hurt either!
Good run for Rogers, they said he might have dropped a valve at one point and he went to the rear, but I guess they got whatever it was fixed. Too bad, he was up to sixth or so when he went to the back.

Rogers had a great car. He was still not running right at the end but he still hung on for a good finish! I hated that Joe Winchel didn't get to race! he was real fast in practice, but he broke a motor in practice! Johanna long has come a long way in a short time! look at the competition she beat! The Blizzard races are stacked from top to bottom. there was really only one "junk" car in the field! She is smooth and knows how to use her bumper just enough to get the job done but not take anyone out. The new surface at Five Flags has made a dramatic difference on tire wear! Halfway through the race the speeds had only fallen off less than a second where in the past it would have been 3 seconds! There is a definite second groove and many were using it! there is a black mark on the track 2 and a half grooves high! I truly do not think the track should ever be paved as long as it can stay like it is right now! The racing is great!

Hey Bubba! I noticed you said that the broadcast was more interesting than you thought. that would be because the track announcer at Five Flags, Robbie Harvey, Is absolutely the best traCK ANNOUNCER THAT iVE EVER HEARD IN MY NEARLY 4 DECADES OF ATTENDING RACES! HE KEEPS IT INTERESTING EVEN DURING RACES WHERE SOMEONE IS WAY OUT FRONT BY FOCUSING ON OTHER BATTLES IN THE FIELD! BTW Sorry about the caps! LOL I just noticed I must have accidentally hit the caps button! I'm too lazy to retype it all! LOL

I was wondering what Freddie Query has been up to. He was one of my favorite drivers growing up. I remember watching him and Scott Wimmer at the old Volusia speedway at speedweeks in 1997. I will never forget that night with so many different types of cars there from SARA Modifieds to Hooters Cup Late models to the Outlaw Modifieds that rumbled the ground it was awesome!!Originally posted by bubba View PostFreddy Query in the pits dont hurt either!
