  • Try it Sometime

I know the majority of you are asphalt fans but some Saturday night, take a trip to Volusia Speedway Park and enjoy some great dirt racing. As you know, I have worked asphalt for many, many years but recently switched to dirt and love it. They have good car counts and great drivers and they have heats and features and get done early so you are not there until the wee hours of the morning. I find they don't fool around at all and I am enjoying my new world.

So come one Saturday night and see the dirt world, I don't think you will be disappointed and you might just become fans of both. They have good food and even ice cream and some of the nicest officials around and very, very friendly. And it never hurts to try new things because hey, you never know, you might find you like it too.

Have a good weekend and Alex and I are off soon to Volusia for another great night of racing. And it really is cheaper to go to the races than a movie anymore and you will have a much better time.

But no matter what or where you go, support your local track and have a GREAT Saturday night.

You missed one great show last night at Volusia. 80 cars - 4 divisions, packed stands, it was quite a night. Also saw Cody Blair in his new dirt modified, Pat Buckley in is Street Stock, Rob Underwood racing both his Modified and Late Model.

If you have never tried dirt, I recommend that you go sometime and try it. I don't think you will be disappointed at all.

You are preaching to the choir here. Most racers at Ocala on Friday Night are over at VCS on Saturday.
Last night you had Dillon Woods win and Mark Whitener 2nd in late models. Just a turn around from Ocala the night before. I like to park outside turns 1 and 2 and watch from the tailgate........WHERE ELSE CAN YOU DO THAT WITHOUT BUYING A PIT PASS??

I agree,DIRT is the way to go.See the ASSPHALT tracks results ther car counts are way down.I say Bobby is doing a great job promoting his track on here but the car counts are not there.I watched OSW and NSS last yr on brighthouse. And I could not beleive any one would go to a arce and watch
5 to 7 cars on any night per class be there till 1130 12 pm and pay those prices. If u notice VCS Ocala and eastbay doesnt do much promoting just word of mouth.
Even Putnam with its past promblems, car counts are reaching established assphalt tracks car counts. Overall dirt is better.. Rob

Hi Jim - maybe one night I will find you over there at Volusia. If you see a young man selling dvd's and he does go over that way, that is Alex, my son. He has been helping the video people by selling the dvds in the pits and then walks around the grandstands all the way to where the cars are parked selling them. He is having a ball. And they are only $10.00 and have audio also on them.

And yes, I have noticed that the Ocala drivers do seem to go to Volusia on Saturday also. I am still learning the drivers on dirt but have noticed that. Hopefully soon I will start profiling them for karnac so people can get to know these guys since most know the asphalt drivers but not the dirt drivers. But I hope to see you and your wife one of these Saturday nights. I am always in the tower writing but I will try and get over your way sometime. What time do you normally come??

Jane, when we go we usually arrive about 5pm when the gate opens.
Right now I'm racin' at Bronson Saturday nights though. We will let you know before we come next time.

Thanks Jim - I will do my best to come and see you. Good luck at Bronson. I know Alan McCafferty should be there for the big mod race with his mod sometime this month. He has a Street Stock at Volusia and does pretty good in it.

              Have fun
