  • Catching the Cheaters! - Listen Live - Karting Segment on IFR Show - Apr. 6 at 8pmET

Listen LIVE to possibly Florida's busiest Karting Tech Official, Vinnie Crawford, on the Inside Florida Racing Karting Segment broadcast on Monday, April 6!

Vinnie will come on the air around 8pm ET!

For 2009, Vinnie Crawford is the 2-cycle tech official for the Florida Karting Championship Series, which has quietly become one of Florida's most popular karting series, with a record 245 entrants at it's most recent event at the Ocala Gran Prix on March 28 (180 different drivers!).

In 2009, Vinnie is also the tech official for the Tri City Kart Club in Bradenton, and the Southwest Florida Karting Association in Immokalee. In addition, Vinnie also fills in with the CCMP Karting Series, Ocala Gran Prix, and Desoto Champ Kart Series, as needed.

Vinnie discovered karting in the 1980's, while racing his Stock Car Modified at a short track in New York. One night, when the stock car track began it's intermission, Vinnie watched many of his fellow car racers rushing out of the pits, to an area outside of the track. Puzzled, Vinnie stopped one of his competitors, and asked what was happening. He learned that many of his fellow racers had sons and daughters, who were racing at a small go-kart track on the grounds, and they were rushing out to watch their children and family compete in their go-karts. At that time, Vinnie had a young son. Intrigued, Vinnie followed the crowd out to the go-kart track, and watched the races. He was particularly impressed with the family atmosphere that he observed that night, and 30 years later, Vinnie is still involved with karting.

Vinnie has promised to give listeners a few examples of the most "creative" cheating he has witnessed in karting, during his 15 years of working in the tech area.

This is the thirteenth weekly segment on Florida karting. These 20-minute segments will appear on the Inside Florida Racing Show broadcast every Monday night! The IFR show is broadcast from 7pm-9pm, with the Karting Segment starting around 8pmET!
