I have posted it on every board. I have reposted! If I said something nasty about John Sarppriacone or Bobby Diehl, EVERYONE would read it! But what I wrote about is a drivers chance of winning a gorgeous $4,000.00 ring! There were 49 readers! there were TEN nominations!!!

Please take a minute and let me know THE TRUTH about what your feelings are regarding this ring. This honor!

If Floridas drivers and fans have no interest just let me know and we will go National with it. IT IS NOT ABOUT KARNAC - RRUSA - ME - CECE - ROB - RICK - BILL - or anything else! IT IS AN HONOR bestowed to a driver YOU nominate! There is nothing wrong with a driver nominating him or herself! Just have a good reason!

NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED
The ring should go to the PROMOTER that does the most to keep racing alive.
They should:
1. Be fan friendly
2. Be Driver Owner Friendly
3. CARE about the cost to race at their facility
4. Keep it clean
5. Good Food
6. Be a person who when they put on a show you WANT TO GO and cancel other plans to do so!
Only one I know of is the GROUP behind the Modified Reunion. People CHANGE their vacation plans and travel LONG DISTANCE to be there because they feel SPECIAL in the treatment they receive at the event.

Well Carol,
I thought about sending 2 names to you. Grady and Bubba Christian have been on a tear at Ocala and Volusia. I just couldn't narrow it down to one or the other. Don't get discouraged. 10 nominations isn't that bad.

This month, I nominated OSW modified driver "Wild Bill" Gunn. He had been out of racing for several years, but came back in 2009. Two weeks ago, Bill won the modifed feature in his second race since getting back in the sport. Cool!

I bet Johnnie Collins was thrilled to be selected as last years winner. Racers at this level tend to toil alone in the heat, in the dirt and late at night. No one expects to get such an honor; we just want to race. However, I'm sure he'll never forget about being the 2008 winner!

Maybe it's because the tire man won't trade for jewelry. The gas man might think about it but in the end they like cash just like everybody else.

This is kind of like the silly computer voting competition that really identified the creamiest of the crop last year.

I'd like to nominate Karnac's own Rex "Boneman" Hollinger for his part in Brawn GP's win at the Australian Grand Prix to start the F1 season. Most scribes had written off the former Honda F1 squad, but the off-season addition of Hollinger as reserve/test driver was clearly what the doctor ordered.

Though one has to wonder if he takes that Sunoco flag with him everywhere...

i know hundreds of drivers all over the south!!! i know fans, track owners media....photographers, safety operators....
this is a fact sir! most of the racers have told me they dont do it for the money. no amount of money can pay them back for what they put out. They do it because they LOVE it!!!! There are some such as Wayne Anderson who do earn a decent living racing... and i bet Wayne would feel honored to get the ring...
but most do it for FUN, for excitement, for making a place for themselves in this world...
no ... the ring will not buy tires... but if a driver receives recognition for being the DRIVER OF THE YEAR, dont you think they could potentially draw the interest of a sponsor!
im sorry i called you "ignorant" but thats the only word i could think of regarding your NEGATIVITY! we are trying to be positive and promote this sport! why dont you join us... i can be ignorant too... lol

wow. If I offended you I'm so sorry. I wasn't aware this was an award you personally funded and gave out. I re read my post and can't see where I insulted you in any way where you should reply with a remark such as that I am ignorant.

If I'm wrong about tire salesmen and gas people not bartering for jewelry then I stand corrected. You asked why no one had an interest in this gimmick and I replied. I really don't understand the hostility from you. I just repeated what you had said earlier abou the 49 reads. You asked for truth about feelings. I didn't realize you only wanted opinions that matched yours.

Given that you feel such a prestigious honor was bestowed upon him, why don't you stroll on over and check out JCM's website and see how he is promoting it to HIS potential sponsors.
Didn't even include it in his list of accomplishments. There was a paragraph and picture (pasted from the KARNAC site) but that's it. There were no new pictures of any of his current rides so maybe he has a quarter panel dedicated to it or something. Check with your previous winner before you blame others for not supporting your award.

argument because it just brings more negativity and that isnt what i am about. oh and by the way... it is NOT my award... i am simply spreading the word so people will get involved....

as for the rest of you,.... now that we really have your attention... please email feedback@realracinusa.com and let us know who you think deserves this ring. we could give you some tires that would last a race or 2 but we want you to be able to tell your little ones or your future grandchildren where you got that AWARD and why! i can see it now... the pride in telling them that a long time ago the racing media in florida bestowed you with this honor because you did such and such.... isnt that better than a tire?...when you are 80 you can still have braggin rights... long after the tires become artificial reefs!
