Rumor has it that Fain Skinner will be at CMP. Now it could be just to practice or it could be to race on Saturday. But that is the rumor.

Where were you during the infamous, "CRA - give us back Fain Skinner and we'll give you Robert Yoho!" discussion during last year's Governor's Cup?
Fain is a good shoe and is missed in Central Florida. His car was at PRI.www.FloridaSprintCarFans.com - because Florida sprint car racing needs all the help it can get...

Looks like the Florida Faithful won the battle of Fain Skinner this weekend - only 14 cars at the CRA show and Fain isn't one of them. I'm going to assume he's at CMP then.
For those of you keeping score at home that now makes it:

These are Twin 125s mind you. Look at those qualifying times. The "slow" class is almost running the same times. The fast guy in the "slow" class could qualify 9th in the "fast" class.
If they would combine those two classes you could have a competitive field of 27 cars.
That would be too logical I suppose.www.FloridaSprintCarFans.com - because Florida sprint car racing needs all the help it can get...

Fain was at CMP along with 10 other late models. Spun by himself around the halfway point and tore up his car(again). Anderson won after being jumped by Gainey on a restart(which resulted in a flat tire) with five or so laps left. Changed the tire then passed Gainey on the last lap for the win. It was pretty funny because I took my 8 year old to her first race and she liked the shiny cars(lates). She thought the #1 was pretty and I told her he was fast but usually crashed. She thought the #8 was nice too and I told her he'd probably cause a crash... I asked what she thought about the #92 and she said she didn't like it. I told her he would win! All my predictions came true!sigpic

Thanks CMP (not) for allowing Wayne extra laps to change his tire. He stopped in turn three to bring out the caution (the age old trick). If I would have been flagging, he would have just set there, but no, the flagman at all tracks fall for that trick every time. Since it was within the last ten laps, the caution laps didn't count. It would have been interesting what they would have done if it had been before lap 90. I guess they would have red flagged the race so Wayne wouldn't lose a lap. FYI Tripper - at the ASA South race last week at SGMP, they combined the ASA and Southern Pro late models and had a nice 26 car field.

The problem with Cordele, is they do not have any sort of late model division, therefore no local cars to help pad a traveling series car count. The majority of GAS drivers come from north of Atlanta, about 3 hours from Cordele. Add to the fact that I-75 South is logjammed with traffic from construction and spring breakers heading to FLA. There is also a ASA/Southern Pro Series race being held at Senoia tonight, about 45 minutes south of the ATL. 20 cars showed up for that race.
While I do agree that a consolidation of the rules package may be beneficial, there are too many asphalt late model series trying to establish themselves in Georgia. Here are the different series with races scheduled in GA: CRA, GAS, ASA Late Model, ASA RC Cola/Moon Pie, Southern Pro Late Model Series. Lanier Speedway is the ONLY asphalt track in GA that run late models on a weekly basis. There is a $50,000.00 bonus to any driver who can win the GAS Series, Lanier's Super Six and Lanier's weekly championships, I thought more drivers would be taking a shot at that money. As the season progresses, I do expect some large car counts at some of the GAS races.Last edited by SeminoleWind; 04-04-2009, 10:45 PM.
