Some things that were cool that I really miss...

Just about everything at Golden Gate Speedway... The covered stands were great with the "bug" lights that were turned off when a race started and turned back on after the checker flew... The turn four chair-back grandstand provided an awesome view but you had to get there early to get the top rows!! Always loved the Gate's pit area too... Overall the best atmosphere of any track I've ever been too...

Turns 1 and 2 at Palm Beach Fairgrounds... incredible to watch them race on the "egg"...

Tracks that just had the right "atmosphere"... Old Orlando, Sunshine, Hialeah... just driving by them gave me goosebumps...

The chance to see one race night at Reading, PA... I would have paid $100 to watch the race that night between Kenny Brightbill and Dick Tobias...

Sneaking past the old "ancient" guards at Daytona to get into the Winston Cup garage area... Got in one time by helping a crew member push Sammy Swindell's Busch car to the tech building and another time hitched a ride on a garbage truck!!

I dont remember where or what track but it was somewhere in Pa that had a big hill to sit on between 1 and 2. It was a really small track but great seats, I always thought that was kind of neat.

motordrome Speedway is like that, but there way is you can watch the racing from your car, but those spots sell out before the season starts

Oh man, those mini-donuts were so good! Actually, I'm glad that they aren't sold at other tracks I visit or I would look like the Pillsbury doughboy after about two weeks. The last race at Lakeland, the lady asked me what I needed and I had to answer that I didn't really NEED them, but I sure would LIKE a bag of those mini-donuts.

My dog misses the Shriners who used to work the Lakeland track. They hooked him up with a hot dog one night and he hasn't stopped talking about it since.

Bottom line, I really miss the Lakeland track, period.
