Live Update From Golden Isles Speedway - United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series

At 8pm the track is being made ready for racing after showers blanketed the area in the afternoon.

Since owner Frankie Lloyd has a no-rain out policy, it will be a late night but the qualifying and heats for the 100 lap $10,000 to win event tomorrow will happen later tonight.

Well, even Frankie couldn't deal with this weather....show is on for Saturday.

As of 4:30 PM the severe weather has stayed 50 miles north of Golden Isles Speedway and track officials say the track is in good condition. The United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series event has been scaled back to 60 laps paying $5000 to the winner.

The drivers meeting begins at 4 PM Saturday, practice at 5 PM with qualifying, heats, B-mains and feature to follow.
There are currently 32 cars registered to race.

Racing acion from the newly redesigned 3/8 mile track will be broadcast live on www.realracinusa.com beginning at 6PM with UDLMCS announcer Rick Anges along with Terry Caton.

Rain hampered efforts to get the huge two show started Friday and though Golden Isles Speedway staff gave it a valiant effort, in the end the track officials canceled racing activities around 8 PM. The track had been prepared and watered good early in the week to prepare for this event, and the Friday afternoons rains were just too much to over come when a persistent drizzle continued through the early evening hours.

If the weather does does permit Saturday night's feature, it will be run on Sunday at noon, according to track owner Frankie Lloyd.

A beautiful Sunday here in Brunswick, Ga., the track is being prepared for some bad to the bone dirt late model action.
