This track was located in West Orlando at the intersection of Old Winter Garden Rd. and Ferguson St. right next door to Amick Construction Co.
This old photo is from the mid '50s and the #5 is Bob Luscomb... Yes, the same guy who used to have sharp-looking Modifieds and Sprint Cars...
Note the houses just outside the fence... THE GOOD OLD DAYS!

Look at the stagger on the front tires... I never knew a track existed in the Crime Hills area.

      I Think I Know Who's Running 1st

I do believe its ours truly - JIM FENTON - back when racing was real racing.. he didn't have to start up front to win a race... he was man enough to work his way through the pack.
Car count was only ONE of the most important items of racing back then.

If those guys were driving trucks, or any other modern car, they would be out of the race. The parts bill for an aero nose, air box etc. would be $100+, in addition to the time spent repairing it.

Lets get back to bumpers are nerf bars. The racing was better and less expensive.

LOL, not quite that old but almost. I couldn't quite reach the steering wheel at this point (born in 48').

However, the magic moment wasn't too far off. Here is the one that started it all. I am standing in the center with my foot on the trailer tire. My dad is sitting on the rail with my niece, Terri. The year is 1964, my Sophomore year at Seminole High School.

            YEA, I Figured As Much

            You went to Seminole H.S.!

Cause I never saw you around the best H.S. in that area (Dixie)..

But I wouldn't have seen you anyways as I graduated the year before that picture was taken (63).

I spent more time in detention than in class (once they found out the WACKS didn't bother me as much as being late for work because of detention). Hell, I could get three wacks and still be to the job on time - but then they got wise and would hold me for 1 or 1.5 hrs - that really sucked.

Ah-ha, so that explains it (the need for extensive therapy I heard about). One of those miscreants from Dick Head High that our mommies warned us about back then huh??!

I once had a blind date with a gal from Dixie Hollins. (yep, went against all warnings back then that you might get something that Penicillin wouldn't cure from the girls at DHHS). Nice girl, not big on vocabulary but boy she was really proud of that tooth!

Don't worry Bob, we won't hold it against you.

              I bow to my elder....
