We started out with 9 cars in the pits. New cars, new drivers, and new numbers. During practice, the #26 car of Ted Durfee had engine problems. What shame for a new car. Ted did take the green in the feature. No heat race was run.
Starting on the pole for the feature was Mike Elder in the # 15 car with Jamie Barnum in the # 7 outside. Defending Champion, Jack Duffy started along side Mike Belusar in the # 30. At the green, it was Belusar to the lead with Elder in second. On lap 8, Duffy moved around Elder and tracked down Belusar. The first caution came out on lap 16, when the # 17 of Ray Smith spun in turn four, while the leader spun in turn two. Belusar was given his spot back due the caution coming out for the #17. On the restart it was Belusar, Duffy, and Elder in the front. A very scary incident occurred on lap 17, when the #5 car of Geoff Styner blew a motor down the backstretch, the car became engulfed in flames as Styner tried to get out of the car. The car finally came to stop in the grass of turn 4. At this point Styner was able to pop out of the top of the car. Styner was OK and walked back to the pits. Mike Belusar went on to win the race with Duffy and Elder rounding out the top three.
