I heard Jim on "Inside FL Racing" last night. This guy has got a good idea, but there is one potential pitfall awaiting. He is running the first 100 lapper for mod minis that I remember in the last few years. New Smyrna ran one for a while, but the participation fell off. Anyway, Jim is putting this race together to be run at Citrus in April.
He has many good ideas for the event: no entry fee, a big pay-out, B mains and a consy race so everyone gets to run. Overall it sounds like fun and I am planning on taking one of my cars.
I hesitate to bring up the potential problem because it will sound like I am making an accusation. I am really not accusing anyone of anything; I've just been around this sport long enough ask Mr. Curry to take extra care because he has a car in the race. In addition, it is an excellent car that is capable of winning, and is driven by one of the most successful mini drivers in Florida. I fully believe he is just supporting his own event, but he really needs to guard against any charges of favoritism. Its not an accusation; its just a fact that this perception occurs whenever track management is involved with a car or driver.
As the event organizer, you may want to consider sitting this one out as a car owner. Just my $0.02 brother. Best of luck, hope to see you in April.
