  • Hey East Bay, hire Speedweek Junkie!

Here is some constructive critism for one of my favorite tracks. I went to the "King of the 360's" last night at East Bay. The track was in great shape and the racing was very good in both the sprint and mini sprint classes. However there was one glaring omisison: the announcer! The guy on the mike was so quiet all night. He seemed completely unfamiliar with the sprints and didn't have much to say. The volume was so low we wouldn't have heard anyway.

There was a second announcer who did the winner interviews. That guy was fine: he was talkative, informative and loud enough. If you can't make him the primary announcer, then please fine someone who can do it.

I suggested "Speedweek Junkie" Mike: he is experienced and knows his stuff. I saw him at Ocala on Friday. Seriously, for $35 to sit in the stands, we deserved to know who was driving.

Hey, I'LL come over and do it, THEN you'll have something!

I plan on going to the Lucas Late Model shows at East Bay. I've never been and have a couple of questions. How early should I get to the track to get a good seat near the top? Will the shows be a sellout? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Go early and allow time to eat at the track. The concession stand food is good, and they even have a restaurant right behind the stands.

          Hey RACER6

From what I read about the pricing, the top seats go to those that buy the package deals (many day attendance tickets), the people who are only attending one night event sit mid-level - POO POO on that if I read it correctly.
On a regular night when I go, I get there around gate opening time (5PM), I eat in there sit-in-place (I agree on the good food part), then I go up and always get a good top seat (NOTE: This is NOT regular night time).
          Hope this helps.

im sure it will be a sell out the late models always bring a big show and i agree with everbody else get there early if you want to find a decent seat. The 360's were a lot of fun to watch and i plan on being at eastbay everynight intill the winter nationals are done.

Boneman, the announcer's lack of sprint experience points to the continued erosion of sprints at East Bay all together. Just a few short years ago they had a $25k to win 410 sprint race with a packed house. Now its 2/3rds full (being generous) and a regional ASCS 360 event...I personally thought the show was pretty good, if you understood this wasn't what it use to be.

What You Really Need at EB

Is someone with a big mouth that knows everything about racing.

My money would be on that Fraz guy with all the magazines, worn out shoes and very little furniture. He has something to say about everything as appears to know more than most (that's an understatement) regarding racing.

Put Fraz in the booth and pay him with "Suds" post race.

Last year, if I remember correctly and I am going senile, I bought reserved tickets for the top rows the day of the races. They cost extra but I had decent seats for me and my daughter. Make sure you talk to the people around you. You'll meet people from all over with great stories.

"someone with a big mouth that knows everything about racing".... and here I was, thinking we had never met. Obviously I'm wrong!

But I sure do like the way you're thinking with that pay scale!
