  • night 1 at Ocala

That was a pretty good night! Not too cold, not too late and pretty good racing. Kenny Wallace won the UMP modifieds while Tim Shaffer (I think) made a late race pass on Greg Wilson to win the All Star sprints.

My night was a little strange; I rode in a push truck for the first time. Thanks to Sammy from Vintage Garage for an enjoyable night and a view of the action from a different perspective.

Yep, that was pretty good racin! And it could have been better if it were not for the track not having enough time to fully dry out since Thursday's monsoon. Despite the mess from Thursday the track crew busted butt and did an excellent job, and the track was in good condition. The track should be in excellent condition tonight, and I expect we will see those unofficial under 12 second lap times return. And those front stretch wheelies we saw in practice continued during the racing last night, some going the length of the grandstands.

The mods put on quite a show with Wallace, Jeff Mathews, and Matt Auckland, racing one, two, three. Mathews had Wallace's head on a swivel on restarts, but Herman managed to hold him off to win. You can pretty well bet that Jeff Mathews is not done with Herman yet, and they will battle it out tonight as well.

Boneman, if you are back tonight try and look me up. I know I'm all over the place but usually someone knows where to find me. Same goes for anyone else that is there. Its always good to shake a few hands.

Ah man, wish I had met you Boneman. The wheelies were great. Rick Warren and I were having a lot of fun trying to get pictures of them. I got a few good shots and I know Rick's got a bunch of great ones.

That's Daron Clayton, who I nominated for the "Most Likely to wind up in the Parking Lot" award. That guy was a weapon out there.

Great to hear that everybody had a great time last night... Although some of us have had to work long long hours and aren't able to play alot lately... Thankfully, some of the long hours/weeks should be slowing down soon....

Rex, don't forget to call me to go play one of these days...

                Have a great day all...

Pretty good night of racing...Tripper our boy McCarl looked like he was still trying to pass that kidney stone...It was great to see Danny Smith & Stevie Smith both competitive. I think Wayne Johnson may have been the man in the feature if they hadn't hurt the engine in the heat race.

According to TMac's mother, he still hasn't passed the stone. That's what he was trying to do Saturday night. She posted on Hoseheads. BTW, I have picture from Friday's race up on my site now.

I've got more of the Ocala pictures on my site now. You can view them there. I'm working on the East Bay pictures now and should have them up later. I'll put them on the Karnac site later also.
