  • Goodyear's Larry Robinson

I received a few calls today with people telling me that Goodyear Short Track Racing Tire Distributor Larry Robinson had passed away from a recent illness...

It was hard news to take because we, like a lot of other people, had done a lot of business with him over the years, and we truly enjoyed working with him. He was fun and full of life at the track and away from it (he was a great golfer too)...now the good Lord will have him around...if he can stand the cigar smoke!

    Rest in Peace friend...

Like you and CRA I also had many dealings with Larry. How he ever liked me the way I was sometimes I have no idea. But Larry was a great guy and had helped me on several things in the past. Goodyear along with racing lost a great man in Larry. And along with the cigar smoke I bet he tries to sell em all goodyears in that big track in the sky. Rest in peace Larry.

      Remembering Larry.

My first meeting was at West Palm Beach (Moroso). It was back in 1972 and he worked for his dad at Lauderdale Marine who was the Goodyear distributor. He was on the tire machine changing tires on my Formal VEE. Even then you could tell he was a boy on a mission. He was full of life and was grabbing it by the horns. He was a great part of racing for the last 35 or 40 years. He will be missed, but not forgotten. GOD's got one of the great salesman with him now. Thanks for the friendship.

        Rest in Peace Larry

In the years of knowing Larry Robinson I gained respect for what a gentleman he was. Yes, he loved to play golf, but a passion of greatness with Larry was his home in the Keys and fishing for dolphin. First and foremost Larry loved his family. I know no one that can fill the professional shoes of Larry Robinson for Goodyear. He made short tracks in the United States great with his tires…from asphalt to dirt everyone knew him. If he was at your track you knew it from his cigar smoke (Cohiba).

Larry may you catch the heavenly dolphin, have holes in one and be the guardian angel over Terri and Cory. Rest in peace my friend and know that you will be truly missed.

Does anyone know about the arrangments? I spoke to Larry the other day and he had been not well but was optimistic about a total recovery!

We at Monroe will surely miss him!
