Anyone heard if the Southern Sportsman will be racing in 2009??

I think that the lack of an answer to you should answer your question. Their web site hasn't been up dated since last years last race results. And the schedule is still for 2008.

I seem to remember hearing that the series is gone. Sad as it is, now is the time to pick a close 'home' track, get a copy of the rules and go racin'.

So true Jim. I know Aaron's car is looking good and ready to go. David's is also close to being ready to race. Good Luck to you this year and stay safe.

Beachracer55 and all Southern Sportsman!!!Got an idea!!!

Citrus, Alburndale, and Charlotte County Motorsports Park (CCMP) have adjusted to the SS Rule package. We all three would love to have you race at all three tracks. Maybe if their's enough interest we could have a Triple Crown Touring Divisions. We could even have you Tour with the Open Wheel Modifieds. We all went to the grooved or treaded tires to make it more affordable for you. We also had the OWM ask if we could go the once a month at each track with 50 lappers.
Heck I also heard that Desoto changed their rules to except the same package. WOW!!!! What if all four Tracks got together. Through in the FASTRUCKs and Pro's Truck's, Late Models, Bomber/Road Warriors, Mini Stocks, and 4 cyl Divisions. We could call it the Florida's Circle Tracks Mid and Gold Coast Challenge Tour? Just thinking out loud.
Hope to see you soon at one of our Tracks. Check out the Schedules. Ours is www.raceccmp.com
          Thanks Bobby Diehl

I can see it now: "Cool, the FCTMAGCCT is coming to town!!!"

Might wanna go with something a little easier to say & remember. It took me all year to remember the "UDLMCS".

Citrus is more liberal with their Sportsman rules than the other tracks. SSS has not allowed 3 links and crossover headers but does allow closed chamber heads. Citrus will allow closed chamber with a 200 lb penalty. SSS also has a 450 lift rule where Citrus does not. Bronson has the same rules as Citrus.
So as of now, these tracks are not on the same track to run SSS if you are running on Citrus/Bronson rules.

It took Frass a full year to remember UDLMSC and I still cant get it right. It took Boneman roughly 24 minutes to come up with that one. Pretty good might I add. Someone is entirely way to smart for this board..... or vice versa.

Columbia also runs SSS rules. Make a road trip and race with the 5 cars there.

                          We discussed adding weight!!!

The Citrus cars are welcomed at CCMP. We adjust with weigth. I am sure Auburndale will also to level the playing field.
                          Thanks for supporting your sport.

Columbia has more that 5 Southern Sportsman, also we are running 3 special 50 lap Sportsman races which are being run by the tour rules...that also means the purse!! RSB (John Mitchell) do me a favor and come to the opening night...fan appreciation...and say hello. Even if you don't have a coupon, I will let you in free just where I can meet you. You have alot to say about CMP, but it is always on this board. I would like to just have a moment for you to talk in person.

do you think some of touring series is working

or is it that some of tracks that only get 4-5 cars are begging to stay afloat lets take citrus county speedway they don't seem to have any problem getting cars sportsman - open wheel they have plenty of cars i would like to see two tracks race sportsman and open wheel one week then maybe another track the next week . but keep in mind

it's hard to hold down a full time job run a bussiness work saturday and travel over 150 miles . i relize if you won ever race you went to and never had wreck never blew motor busted tire time get to race track pay way in buy fuel buy set tires or two sets feed 8 people get home 4am

now you got local track 20 miles from your house it really gives you something to think about and i know tracks can't and ain't gonna pay any more than they are paying . and now you are talking about a series maybe 3-4 tracks were certain cars can race ever week if i done my math right what is it round trip 0ver 450 - 500 miles

the days are gone forever were you race 500 dollar car win 700 dollars and pay 3 dollars to get in get coke for 25cents and hot dog for quarter

now it's 15- 20 thousand for sports man twenty thousand for open wheel yea bet bunch of you think i'm full of it and you ony got 1000 dollars in your car right
