It's the Radisson, just west of Disney off of US 192. We're racing on a short track oval and road course in the convention center of the hotel. This thing runs six nights, starts at 5am each day, run until ??? we feel like it ;-) Tues/Wed practice, Thur/Fri/Sat qualifying, B-mains and not one, but TWO 600-lappers for the oval guys (an invitation-only class and an "outlaw" class!), and then the mains (feature events for your short track racers out there) on Sunday. The oval guys are usually running in the evening, so if you get the time, come check us out! This is my first year competing at the 'Birds! Got over 500 cars signed up, over 400 different drivers! This'll be one tough field to crack! You guys'd love the SK/Tour type Modifieds, what I would call "Super Late Model" bodied cars (although they degenerated from Cup bodies), and Trucks; there's also Touring cars, GTP cars, Prototypes, GT cars...you name it, we'll be running it this week!
Here's my ride for the 'Birds if any y'all make it over:

Well, day one of the 'Birds didn't go too well for meI'm still just getting back into this type of racing, so was a little off on the setup in the first practice. Had too much gear in it, and the LF was too hard a compound. Put the car on the scales, and was 1/2 an ounce too light, so had to add a little weight. Got out in the first practice, and was getting pulled down the straights by the fast guys. A little too much gear, so we dropped it down a coupla teeth (went from a 45 to a 43). Also turns out that my transponder wasn't working, so I had no idea of what my lap times were. Got out for the second round of practice, got in about four laps, and got hammered. Tried to get going, and the car would just snap-turn. Turns out I broke a rear suspension plate (what we call a T-plate), and chunked out the rubber on the RR. Spent the rest of the night rebuilding the car from the center of the chassis back, and had to re-tweak and re-scale it before we left last night. I was there for 16 hours yesterday...LOLOL...so we'll see a little better run tonight
If y'all wanna watch this stuff online, free Web cams all week. Works best in Internet Exploder. www.snowbirdnationals.com
Turns out a lot of the European racers didn't make it over as in years past. The European national sanctioning body scheduled their big races this week as well, despite apparently knowing that the 'Birds was this week. Just like NA$CAR....keep your big dogs at home so they have "name" drivers at their race....
