We have looked at changing to the treaded Goodyear tires and it seems to make sense to consider it in order to save the racer some money and to be more consistent with the other tracks. Here is our reasoning:
1.)They will get about four times the use as the slicks.
2.) They will make for closer racing: side by side in the corners.
3.) The side walls are thicker which will allow for rubbing without cutting the tires.
4.) Strong tread pattern will makes for less punctures.
5.) CCMP, Citrus, and Auburndale will use the treaded tire (Auburndale will have the Americans). The three tracks are working together on the rules, dates, and tires. This will hopefully make it more affordable to enjoy your sport in these troubled times.
6.) With all four divisions on the same tires, there will be more selection of sizes to choose from for stagger.
Starting from the weekend of 2-7-09, all four of these divisions will switch to the new tire. However, there is an issue that is important to keeping CCMP or any track running. Tires are a main revenue stream for us. $100.00 per set goes to making up your payout. Just as you guys need to conserve money, so do we to survive. Therefore, we will look at the impact of this change to the purse and make adjustments. We will announce the new purse structure based on car count, ASAP. Please bear with us as it will take time to make it work for everyone.
