Looking for some great short track racing next week?

Then come check out the 15th Annual Snowbird Nationals! 600+ race cars! 400+ drivers! Road course and oval! Everything from Touring Cars and GT cars to SK Modifieds and Trucks! 1/10th scale and 1/12th scale drivers from all over the world travel to central Florida to run this event. Six straight days of racing, from Tuesday, January 27, through Sunday, February 1, 2009.

This is *THE* biggest event of the year for radio-controlled racing in the United States. I've attended the last few years, and this year, I'm entered in what we call 19-Turn Truck (that's a 19-turn electric motor). We race on an indoor temporary carpet track, and it provides some great racing! We have NASCAR-bodied (more like Super Late Model bodies) cars, Trucks, open-wheeled Modifieds, GT cars, Daytona/GT Prototypes, and Touring cars.

Saturday night, we'll have our first annual Thunder 600 event. Twin 600-lappers, one invitational and one non-invitational. The biggest names in the sport will be in central Florida next week for the biggest show in the country!

Come check us out next week! It's FREE FREE FREE admission to come watch! Watch the video on the home page of the 'Birds to get an idea of this thing!

Your truck is cool Jimmy. I like the paint job or are you wrapping them now?
I used to belong to a club in sarasota years ago and they raced 12th scales.
I really enjoyed it. There also was a dirt track inside a building in Sarasota. They had real Ga clay. I ran a sprint car there. I think I still have it. In fact I have a bunch of different cars 12th scale and 10th scale. I have a 10th scale gas truck thats runs like a scalded ape. At least it did. They have all been in my barn for years now. I may try to get over one day and just watch. I'll probably get the bug agin. Thanks bob,.,,,

I'm just like Bob. I use to race, years ago. Down in Orlando at a place called Lake Whiporill. When I quit racing, I was ranked 13th in the southeast region for my class [modified]. I still have my car. It's an Associated [sic] 10L narrow car. At the time, it was THE thing to run. Me and my son still go to thte local R/C races here local on occasion.

A little side note..... I traded an R/C car for my first Race Car that I owned all by myself.......I don't think he's still involved in racing so I guess I got the better deal.

I too raced at whippoorwill in "87" along with a track in edgewater. lots of $$$ spent. last time I raced an r/c car was in 1992 at an indoor track near Va. beach.

        I'll stick to slot cars.

Ran the Whip myself in the late '80s and early '90s, and also ran in Virginia Beach when I was in the Navy in Norfolk.
