  • Listen LIVE on Mon. night Jan. 19 - Sam Rodriguez! - Karting Segment

Listen LIVE to well-known Florida racer and karting figure Sam Rodriguez on Monday night, January 19. Sam will come on the air around 8pm!

This is the second weekly segment on Florida karting. These 20-minute segments will appear on the Inside Florida Racing Show broadcast every Monday night! The IFR show is broadcast from 7pm-9pm, with the Karting Segment starting around 8pm!

Sam Rodriguez is a legend in Florida car racing circles....

    · 3-Time TBARA Winged Sprint Car Champion
    · Grandfather of Nextel Cup Driver Aric Arimola (Sam put him in a go kart at age 8)
    · One of the winningest sprint car drivers in East Bay Raceway history
    · Owner of Dirt Devils Speedway near Brooksville (active for over 10 years)
    · Has promoted multiple “State” and money races at Dirt Devils Speedway
    · Will promote “New Years Shootout” money races on January 23-24, 2009

To listen to the show LIVE each Monday night, simple visit the following link and click on the 'Click Here To Listen Live' on the left hand side of the screen: http://www.realracinusa.com/html/insideflorida.shtml

If you miss the show, you can listen to a taped copy, which is usually uploaded (same page linked above) within two days following each broadcast.

The first Karting Segment interviewee, on January 12, was the 2008 Desoto Super Speedway Late Model Champion, and accomplished karter Dustin Chisholm! You can listen to Dustin's interview by going to http://www.InsideFloridaRacing.com, and clicking on 'Show #69'. When the program starts to load, you can move the time slider over to 1:01:30, when his interview started.

Finally, if anyone would like to provide any comments or input on the shows, please feel free to either email the show directly, or catch me at the track as these segments begin. I will be at Charlotte County Motorsports Park in Punta Gorda, FL this Saturday night. I own a champ kart (#57), and would be happy to talk to anyone.

I will share all comments (unedited and unfiltered) with Jack and Rob. I do not have any decision-making authority (regarding specific guests or content). However, Jack and Rob have been very agreeable to every suggestion they've gotten thus far, and they are very much wanting these segments to become "must hear" radio in the karting community!

Tomorrow nights Inside Florida Racing broadcast is going to be a special show...

Jack Smith, Founder of Karnac.com, and the producer of IFR had been trying to do something special, to commemorate both Dr. Martin Luther King Day, and the historic moment for our country which will occur during Tuesday's presidential inauguration.

Jack stumbled across a website that three African American men in Indiana created 10 years ago, that is solely dedicated to Black History in Automobile Racing. And, their interest is in all forms of motorsports, including karting!

These men have a true passion for racing. One of the men is now 47 years old, and he has attended every Indianapolis 500 since 1968. What is especially remarkable about this is that until 1955, the Indy 500 was sanctioned by the American Automobile Association, which prohibited black drivers from competing at the Indy 500.

Another little-known fact is Florida's unique connection to Black History in automobile racing. Although most people know that Wendell Scott became the only driver to score a Nascar Cup win in 1963, many people forget where the win came.... at Speedway Park in Jacksonville, a one-mile dirt track. After the race had ended, Nascar initially declared that Buck Baker had won the race. Three days later, long after the fans and media had gone home, Wendell Scott was declared the winner in a press release.

These three men will be guests on tomorrow nights show! Please tune in at 7pm ET, to hear some of their stories!
