    THE RULES ARE:

    g. Checkered Flag indicates the race has been completed. The driver that completes the race first is considered the winner. All other cars will be awarded their positions on the distance traveled in the event that they are not in the same lap as the leader. You must take the checkered flag to win

18 Any contact between two cars and one of them loses control, both of them will be sent to the rear. Leader will not be protected

    hmmmm

"18 Any contact between two cars and one of them loses control, both of them will be sent to the rear. Leader will not be protected"... that tells me that Steve Dorer would have won. NOT Johnson....

ALSO! Does anyone listen to Greg, Gary, or Bobby at the drivers meetings ???
I believe I heard Greg say that if something like that happened, it would be up to his discretion to make the call... maybe i heard it wrong.

Anyways, the race is LONG over and its time to move on... hopefully all the bugs will get worked out... Gary has been spending ALOT of time on the rules.

Follow the rule book to the tee... no discretion, no changes, no favoritism... (and thqat is NOT an accusation!)
    !!!
CONSISTANCY and following the book to the letter would have been the best thing to do . The NO ONE would have had any reason to complain. Just my opinion for the millionth time. ;-)

I imagine there have been some occaisions in Florida short track racing where the officials have reversed their decision days later and awarded the win to the driver who was wronged . But i bet this isn't going to be one of those times . It was a judgement call , and not subject to review . You guys should probably quit this vendetta before the track gets you for " actions detrimental to stock car racing ".

BOTH OF THESE RULES SHOULD HAVE MADE IT CLEAR THAT THE #93 SHOULD HAVE WON THE 150 LAP RACE ON SUNDAY!

i know that you want to think the best for yourselves, but rule 18 says that you should have been put to the rear of the field along with the guy you spun out.

i seriously doubt that it's "clear that you should have won" Sunday when you started on the pole and never managed to do anything but lose positions. just how were you intending to pass the rest of the lead lap ( read "fast" ) cars in one lap when you haven't shown the ability to pass anybody all race long?

nothing against you in particular, but this is what comes of starting the fast cars up front. you want to tell me you 'deserved' to win that race, you start in back on the green and work your way to the front.

starting as far forward as you can and spending the whole race hanging on by your fingertips trying not to go backwards doesn't impress me much.

speaking of things not to be proud of, from your other thread:
"THE CAR WAS RUNNING GREAT AND THE #93 MANAGED TO START ON THE POLE"

"managed to start"? what you mean is, the fast qualifier drew a #6 pill for the invert. you got the pole through no accomplishment of your own. this is by far the most optimistic spin i've ever seen put on a #6 qualifying spot.

Does anyone listen to Greg, Gary, or Bobby at the drivers meetings ???
I believe I heard Greg say that if something like that happened, it would be up to his discretion to make the call... maybe i heard it wrong.

why is it up to the race director's discretion when the rule is written so plainly in the book?

think very carefully about how you answer that.

also, the whole issue with the leader being spun on the last lap is hardly a new or novel occurrence in racing. any promoter/race director/flagman team in the country had better ought to get their heads wrapped around how they want to deal with that situation because its going to happen many times each year.

making the rule up on the spot is not going to make anybody happy.

          Hindsight

This whole issue would be mute if the flagman had only showed the yellow instead of the checker on the last lap. It happened to me a few years ago at Ocala. I passed the leader on the backstretch on the white flag lap, but never touched him. He just lost it trying to avoid the turn 3 pass. I came out of four expecting the checker only to see the yellow. The other car was put to the rear and we had a one lap shoot-out. I won and no arguments.
Not done at CCMP race........maybe should have been..JMO
