  • Things I loved about Citrus last week

    1 No darn Bandeleros!
2 Fewer aerodynamic nose pieces, many more bent up bumpers
3 They allowed Todd McCreary and myself to sit in the "family" section so we would not be near anyone who was loud or obnoxious.
    4 figure 8's
5 Starting at 5:30 for the winter races, but that would be drag in hot weather.
6 More passing then you will see in 100 seasons of F1.
7 Lots of pretty redneck girls
8 Racers in the pits who were not complaining about everything.
9 Getting to see Ocala76 race for the first time.
10 The tobacco juice fountain (ok, I made that one up)

I am a FASCAR guy, but I will be back to visit!

I remember back in the early 90's, myself and my girlfriend at the time [ I'm now married to someone else, SSSHHHHH ] would go over on the weekends when they ran figure 8's. Twice a month. The place was always packed on both sides. The only problem there is the sun if your on the grandstand side. Now if you want a HOTTER view, go to the Pit side and look at Kalleyne. I think I spelled her name wrong.

Hey Rex the only thing I can think of that might be wrong on that list is #3...

They always allow short bus riders to sit in the family section.... ROFLMAO...

      Have a great day all....

Hey Bone, glad you had a good time. Citrus is a fun track to race and visit. Sorry you caught my first race on a bad night for us. Believe it or not though, I picked up a sponsor later that weekend(guess they felt sorry for me).
So we will start the season with a new shock package and tires. Already replaced that LR spring that broke last Saturday.
The only real funny part about that race is that most everybody had to do 50 laps and I only had to do 48...........lol
That has not happened for a lot of years. We will be at practice this Friday to fine tune the changes and get the tires. Hope to see yous there this season.

I used to make the trek over there 3 weeks out of the month throughout the '90's to see the latemodels and the street stocks from Orlando. Getting married and having two kids and the rise of dirt track racing has curtailed my trips over there but I can never remember a bad show over there. Hot redneck chicks too. That sun is a killer in the summer...you just wilt until the sun goes down.

Ran Citrus for a few years in the mid to late '80s. Our very first time there, in 1981, I believe we beat Dickie Anderson by a bumper to win a 50-lapper. Won a LOT of features there when we ran there regularly. Crowds have almost always been good at that place. Haven't been there since about 1980-something, though.

I loved the fact it is a quarter mile race track yhat has a second racing groove, so you can pass without having to move somebody. They have very a friendly staff and rules posted online already for 2009. The racer's there are friendly and will help if you need it. My favorite thing about Citrus last week, was the clean sportsman race where I was able to squeek out a win..........

they thought i would provide a good example for the chillins.

Rex they only let in because i vouched for him. they won't make that mistake again.
