  • Good night at Inverness

Another Saturday night, another good program at Inverness. Good-sized fields, tight competition and -- for the most part -- pretty clean racing. Richie Smith passed about 20 cars to win the hobby stock feature and another 8 or so to win the modified race, and he did it without roughing anyone up.

"Features only" is a beautiful thing. Racing started just after 6:15 and finished at about 9:30. Perfect.

It was a packed house both in the pits and in the grandstands. Somehow, even amongst the masses, I ended up sitting next to Boneman, AB195 and Todd McCreary. They aren't so bad. Also, Harold Frederick has forgotten more about stock car racing than I'll ever know.

Count me in for the second Winter Spectacular in 2 weeks. For $13, it's a tasty deal.

    Dump Truck For Sale

Did you happen to notice the #76 DUMP TRUCK in the sportsman race. Practice went good after some adjustments but broke a left rear spring. With no suitable replacement we were forced to borrow one and it did not work out so well. Loose in and a push off made for a survival mode type of driving.
Car was fast, just would not turn...........dam I'm sore today. Sorry I missed you guys.

Looked like you were plowing the corner pretty bad, Jim. I was a little surprised to see you at Inverness and not in a wreck, to be honest. That place has had your number.

        Hi Jim H,

T Mac and I were sitting in the stands, but were wishing we were in the pits to help loosen up your car. Hey, at least you raced and are still in one piece.

It was cool to meet Joe ("they aren't so bad", indeed!) and Harold. Overall, my first visit in 15 years to Citrus was a most satisfying night at the races.

Does anybody know the results of the sprotsman race last night. The webmaster for the Citrus board was having trouble posting results.

Don't know if you guys caught it, but the Mods were running on the treaded tire used by the Sportsman. Looked like the race was competitive and the racers support the use of the tire for the full season. Maybe this will help get some of the unused mods back to the track!

I was a little far back but the 25 car won it. 01 Tom Posovec 2nd, 88 3rd and Matt Blum 1 car was fourth. I think I am right on that. The dump truck I was driving started 16th finished 12th.

We were gonna go and watch ya race, Jim, but we thought you were going to call Dick if you were going. Dick said you didn't call so we assumed you changed your mind about racing. Oh well, maybe next time around?
