It is easy to see why CItrus is pretty successful...

time limits on the races, they start at 6:00pm on Saturdays, their rule book doesn't seem to change much, they charge $12 for admission and I think $5 for teens and they do not have many touring series.

NSS/OSW seems to be heading in the right direction...no more heat races, I have heard they might go to timed races, double file restarts and no more touring series. If they could get the front gate to $10-$12 EVERY week minus the CLyde Hart and Gov Cup I think they will be on to something.

      Oh hell

Hey Todd... a few years ago, I was building a restaurant up in Inverness and that was my first experience there... At that time, the racing was great... Hell even my Chiropractor was a damn good racer, and one of the announcers (Wolfie) made it fun... The stands were Packed, and I mean packed every week, with all age groups... To this day I am sure that Citrus is still probably one of the busiest tracks in the South if you average it out... Now I wish we could get OSW and NSS filled up like that... One of the things that OSW and NSS needs to get is a good field of car because I do love the track. Nothing like high banks and a 1/2 mile that doesn't make you beg for more.. Once the word is out that the Fields are big and consistent again... Fans old and new will come out... Of course that does take some advertising and pushing in these economic times...

Now if things hold up until I get my car out this year... Yippee...

I hope everyone had a great holiday season...

      See you all very soon...

Well hell about the original subject...

Honestly there has been a competition between Asphalt and dirt folks for as long as I can remember... This coming from someone who has raced both... And yes I do remember when Racing was huge every week... I started out on Dirt, went to asphalt, did both at the same time and now am back to asphalt...

Bringing them both together is a tough proposition, not just due to the promoters, but due to the competitors that compete in each style of racing... They both have tough mindsets... (i.e. dirt is for digging, asphalt is to get there, etc. etc.)

For a last thought, TV coverage on short track racing, both Asphalt and dirt is horrendous... More TV coverage of both styles of racing would benefit Short track racing tremendously... I remember when the Speed channel was first brought up... I was hoping that it would offer more coverage of Short track racing in different areas of the country... But lo and behold they don't offer but a rare glimpse into short track, instead they offer a whole bunch of Crap shows, repeats, and infomercials... Then once in a great while they actually show some racing...

I for one would rather watch a short track race, or a Hooters race, or something in that line on TV then most nascar racing... But don't mind me, I am a died and true short track racer and die hard fan no matter where I am working or living....

Yes if I am not racing or working on someone else's car in the pits, I am in the stands well ahead of time, no matter if it is rain or shine, hot, warm, or cold... Ask me about how many times my better half has not talked to me for several days after we have stayed through the rain or the cold or the heat or gotten to the track several hours early... LOL... And the good lord willing I will have the same grief this year...

        Have a great day all..

time limits on the races, they start at 6:00pm on Saturdays,

oh yeah, i forgot to mention that. racing was done by 9:30, i could have probably gotten out of there by 9:15 if i had skipped the figure 8. and not a single race was shortened.

i could have left Inverness and gotten back to Sebastian about the same time as i would from my normal track closing at it's normal time. that's crazy, Inverness is two hours further away from me.

i was told they have a self imposed 11pm curfew. which is hilarious, because they appear to be the only track i've been to down here which doesn't need one.

a note for a subject that i know some tracks are considering:
Inverness shuttle's the feature winner off of the track to a photo op stand behind the front stretch grandstands for 'Victory Lane' pic's. fans can still get to the car ( they can stand with the car actually ) but the next show is getting lined up and rolled off.
