    petty void...

its been so many years that the Petty name has been on the NASCAR roster. It seems so strange this year will have a huge void. Kyle sure hasnt raced well but you could see his smile clear across the fields... unfortunately it isnt about popularity or longevity in racing but it is about $$$$$.... I hope he will be able to continue the awesome work he's done for the Junction...
NASCAR has gotten caught up in the same things we are caught up in...a company grows in leaps and bounds during good times and when things go sour they have created huge expenses and still have to pay for them... so prices go up...quality goes down...
i hope we all learned a good lesson. when times are good and we have extra money... SAVE it and then buy something. Don't buy things you dont need until you can pay for them.
JEEEZEEEE...there I go again. i start out feeling bad about Petty and now Im on the economy... forgive me... ;-)
So long Kyle and good luck! You are one of the finest men in racing!

Yah, we knew this was coming for the last couple of week since they let Bobby go. Kyle has been down here testing the Orbit car for the 24 in a few weeks. He didn't want us to say anything until the anouncement. He will be back in the car for the next test next week. Word is that Orbit is talking to a couple of other Nascar drivers to team with Kyle for the 24. Mark Martin's name is in the mix. That would be cool.

        NASCAR does NOT care

NASCAR does not care about history they only care about the all mighty dollar. Just like all big companies. I just want to know how long it will take them to realize people didn't like IROC type racing? Of course they will never admit that C.O.T. racing is pathetic.

You knew they were in trouble when they lost bobby labonte.

the talks with GEM were already well along when they cut Bobby loose and that is, in fact, why they cut him.

but i figure Bobby's driving rep was irreparably damaged when he went to work for Petty anyways. a 3rd rate team has a way of making a driver look 3rd rate, even if he actually turns in some pretty good performances ( given his equipment ) during the year.

he'll probably be stuck auctioning off his champions provisionals to backmarker teams just like Terry and Bill Elliott now. it sucks.

The only reason Stewart is out is because he switched to a team that was not one of the top 6 Chevys in owners points

          i think that's Tireman's point.

fans pay to watch the drivers, not the team owners. who would you prefer be on the track, a multi-time NASCAR champion who has proven he can wheel a car or a guy who has been a backmarker and never-was for his entire career?

            Another thought on this

This is the beginning of the end of racing as we would like to see it.
The Death of Big "E" was the start of the safety movement, Adam, and the others did not matter they where not putting money into NASCAR pocket. They lost there bug NAME and now they had to HANG SOMEONE, Bill Simpson.
OK so they change the game and loose some people who do not line their pockets like they did, Bobby and Kyle are another GEE SORRY BUT you do not not fit in our FUTURE PLANS.
NASCAR is in deep trouble if they do not have full fields of race cars and have to start ??? to fill in the show. That day is coming QUICK.
I am going to support IMSA, USAC, ALMS and ABM (ANYBODY BUT NASCAR).
With the daughter getting more into opera and wife wanting to make ALL of her shows My time for racing is probably gone or next to nothing for 2009 and 2010.
But looking at the bright side for me, instead of NASCAR and Speed weeks it will be CRA in Ca. from the 5th to the 15th of Feb. Then she goes to Chicago so I will see some Midwest shows.
This is not going to do anything to NASCAR but if other people do not go then MAYBE the short tracks will come back???
