  • Bruce Everette remembered.

Two resent posts on here made me think of Bruce, "Ugly Race Cars" and "Estle Morrow". Of course "Chocolate Thunder" Bruce's car was a canidate for Dave's post, and much liked Estle Morrow, Bruce was always happy to be at the race track. Bruce always had his dog with him, and he always made you feel like he was really glad to see you. Both of these men will be remembered and missed for a long time.

You are right on Bruce and I still miss him. He was the first driver that ever gave Alex a ride in his car when we use to have kid rides at New Smyrna. After that, Bruce would always slip Alex a $5.00 bill whenever he saw him and made Alex feel very special. Bruce was a sweetheart and you could always count on him being there. Another racer that I also miss is Joe Middleton who was always at the track with his modified. But those two were always there, just having fun and happy to be at the track.

It was sad how NSS treated him after he won the championship.

They treated him like Sh!t. He was their most loyal competitor, and a Track Champion, and yet they crapped all over him. I'll never forget the disappointment in his voice while telling me the story of how shabily he was treated. He never did say which person gave him the shaft, but I have a pretty good idea who was behind it.

Bruce was one hell of a man, and I wish I had known him better. The racing world needs more like him.

RIP Brother... You'll never be forgotten!
