The 3 - 50 lap Sportsman races at CMP are being run under the same rules and purses as the Southern Sportsman. Where it be known Don is still working on the series aspect of racing. All the race tracks in Florida have decided to do their own thing with their own little series at each track, this does not help tours it only hinders them. We have also put in our schedule 2 Pro Truck races which will be run the same as the series. Our schedule is up on ColumbiaMotorsportsPark.com and it may have things added as we book them. Yes, Bobby and Rick...Don is still alive. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. With God's grace may we all see a new year without back stabbing, name calling and most of all rumors.

It would be great to see CMP take off and prosper in 2009. Racing is never easy, and this upcoming year will be a hand-full. Best of luck.

Why Sandy in today's new world what would racing be without backstabbing? Without rumors? Funny thing, I know its been longer for some, I been around racing 20 years now. Working at tracks. In the last 5 years I have seen so much negetive in this sport it makes me sick. If you don't like someone fine. But for them to put hard earned money in something they have a right to do what they want. I have often in the last few years got caught up in doing this on boards myself. This is just ONE of the reasons I am not in the sport anymore. If you think you can do it better go do it with your money. I have often disagreed with things other promoters do. There is only one that I have run in the dirt and I feel I had just cause. BUT I was wrong in doing it on a board. I'm really not a big Don fan but Don put his butt on the line and grabbed the bull by the horns and took a track that wasn't doing to great. Don's money in 2008. NOT MINE OR ANYONE ELSES ON HERE. Let me let you all in on a news flash. ALL TRACKS TO A DUMP IN 2008!!!! I don't care what the owner or promoter said. And it might be worse in 2009. You always hear people say, "if more money was in for this, or more improvements was in for that." Then I have seen where the same person who said that was asked on here, did you go Sat night? Reply was no, it was cold or my big toe hurt. GREAT!!! Way to support track. But then you come on here and bitch.

Like I said Sandy, I aint a big Don fan but I have alot of respect for him in what he tried to do and what he's trying. Have not always agreed but admired his stance and not backing down to the crap.

Good Luck in 2009. I hope it works.

Don't let him fool you Sandy, before he left the southern part of Georgia he was wearing t-shirts with Don's name on em. Well he was wearing them except when he was wearing the "Greg Rocks" t-shirts (Greg=racetech63)

I used to have a statue of Chris Mize in my front yard. One day an army tank pulled up wrapped a chain around it and pulled it over. Last I seen the tank was pulling the head of the statue down the road and kids were running beside it beating it with their shoes !!!!

              Merry Christmas Chris

You may love him or hate him but you have to respect Don because he does love this sport and he does give it his all. He is just like the rest of us, trying to keep it alive and one thing Don has ALWAYS said, support your local track and if at all possible, that is what we need to do in 2009.

Name calling, back stabbing does not help the sport or anyone for that fact and you could end up like Hialeah and a shopping center or storage sheds or anything but a racetrack. None of us want that and tracks are dying all over the country. And yes, you are right, it is part of this sport all the name calling and back stabbing but wouldn't it be nice if that were not true and we could just all get along for the GOOD of the sport. REMEMBER - local track racing is the HEART of racing and if that does end, RACING HAS LOST IT'S HEART FOREVER and then you will only have NASCAR which is over-rated by far.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TRACK IN 2009 and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Greg, That was a very long drag back to Ohio. I got alot of road rash on the way. And I didn't like them kids throwing rocks and saying stone the yankee. Where did that come from? You teach em odd things about us northern folk. Warm here today, in the lower 30's.

Jane, you hit the nail right on the head. Couldn't said it any better.

merry christmas to don and sandy

i have been around racing long time - and have been around a lot of promoters - drivers - race track owners . also people that have leased race tracks that don't know the first thing about running a race track .

and some that don't know the difference between a camshaft or crankshaft they just thought it would be cool to own a race track . and then just butt heads with the other race tracks . talk bad about them

and ever time they get a chance stick that knife a little deeper in there back it don't take long to figure out who is two face

a long time ago i was passing tru alabama and this car pulled up beside me and motioned for me to pull over in to truck stop i parked my semi truck and trailer went inside it was bob harmon any body remember him w e talked for long time i had knew him for quite some time quite a guy

i'll never for get what he told me about track owners and promoters but i will not repeat it because he is not here no longer and neither is three guys that were in car with him

i don't care how many of you don't like don nerone or sandy i could care less i have known him over thirty five years . i will say this about him he has gave his heart and soul to racing he is a true and honest down to the earth one of the kind guy that would give you the shirt off his back and if he tells you some thing you can bank on it

he has gave to racing way more than he could ever get out of it i had lot rather see don with a hammer - nails shovel - tractor - and few hand tools starting a new race track than some of the back stabbing do gooders with sacks full of borrowed money thinking they got it made

why don't you track owners that think nerone is done walk out in middle of your race track next time you have a show and look at crowd you got in the grand stands

and then think how long am i going to be able to stay open merry christmas and happy new year this only applies to back stabbers you know who you are

because there are some race tracks that don't belong to the let's kickum while they are down club

Maybe we should stop dancing around the names of the back stabbers and just publish them . In fact , let me start . Bobby Diehl and John Sarppricone . There are others of course , but those two are near the top .
Don has made a lot of enemies over the years , and a lot of friends . We've all seen and raced in events , really great events , that probably would never have happened if not for Don . I'm sure he's also made a lot of mistakes . But he always wanted the best for stock car racing . And i doubt he's through yet . I can't say i know Sandy , but i'm sure her heart is with racing just like Dons' is . A lot less mouth from some track owners and a lot more effort to work together for the good of the sport is whats needed now .
And i do agree about Osmosis . I miss his insights . A true forum doesn't block ideas , opinions , or posts . A true forum gives everyone the right to express their thoughts and feelings . Deleting posts and banning ideas isn't the way to make this forum into a MUST read .

I don't get up to CMP as much as I used to (it's a haul from where I live) and the lack of a late model touring series isn't going to help, but a TBARA stop in 2009 might. I like CMP. It's got a funky little layout and the seating is pretty cool. And I've seen some good late model races, with plenty of tempers flaring, over the years there. I even saw everyone's favorite lawyer-in-training Jay Middleton get into a spin fest with Jeff Scofield.

Ever thought about a Ford Focus Midget series? That would definitely make your track stand out.

I wish Don, Sandy and CMP the best of luck in 2009.
