  • Inside Florida Racing Broadcast introduces weekly segment on karting!

The December Real Racin' USA Newsletter has been released, with the announcement of a new 20-minute karting segment that will be included each week on the Inside Florida Racing show! Inside Florida Racing is broadcast every Monday night LIVE from 7pm-9pm. The 2009 broadcast season will kick off on Monday night, January 12.

The first karting segment guest on January 12 will be 2008 Desoto Super Speedway late model champion Dustin Chisholm. Dustin is a very accomplished (and still active) karter.

On January 19, 3-time TBARA Winged Sprint Car Champion Sam Rodriguez will join the show for the karting segment. Sam is the grandfather of Nextel Cup driver Aric Arimola, and is currently the owner of Dirt Devils Speedway, a 1/5 mile dirt oval karting facility near Brooksville.

Please stay tuned for more details about this segment in the coming weeks! The line-up of guests that is being developed, for possible appearances on upcoming karting segments, includes many big "names" that are familiar to many Florida racing fans.

Old Style, You need to watch these Champ Karts. Man they put on a show. You wouldn't think the draft would work with these karts, but it does. They are really pretty fast. You'll see more real passes in one of their 25 lap races than a 25 lap late model race. Bob...

Old Style Racer 2 - The karting segments will touch on all forms of karting in Florida, from around the state.

And yes, Mike Hunter (promoter of the kart track at Volusia Speedway Park that is co-located on the grounds of the stock car track) is already on the list of possible guests that the karting segment is developing for the show. In addition to the local shows he runs, Mike's track has hosted a Briggs and Stratton National Dirt Series race for the past several years. Historically, this has been considered one of "the" most prestigious dirt series in the country for karters. As a testament to the popularity of karting, one of these national events was even broadcast live from Volusia Speedway Park (audio) on "pay per view"! (a first for Florida karting!).

We are hoping the karting segment will become something that will interest all race fans and promoters.

The champ kart video from the Dec. 13 CCMP race is posted at http://realracinusa.com/html/insideflorida.shtml

That was a good race, with lots of passing throughout the race.

I enjoyed the champagne at the end also, over Jason's head!

Iv been to Volusia to watch some races. Never raced it myself. But it seems like a nice place. But i don't care what anyone says. This series puts on the most exciting kart racing Iv ever seen. Some nights are more exciting than others. But 2-3-4 wide racing. Bump drafting. For me that's about exciting as it gets for kart racing. But i also love my dirt racing as well. Nothing better than a hooked up kart on dirt. But should be a exciting year with the new CCMP series starting up. Think it has some potential. Im sure they will get it where it needs to be.

To listen to the show LIVE each Monday night, simple visit the following link and click on the 'Click Here To Listen Live' on the left hand side of the screen: http://www.realracinusa.com/html/insideflorida.shtml

If you miss the show, you can listen to a taped copy, which is usually uploaded (same page linked above) within two days following each broadcast.

A list of potential future Karting Segment guests is slowly being developed, and will include personalities from all corners of karting, including dirt, pavement, oval and road course. And YES (!), future guests will also include some junior racers!

The plan is to begin the segments with guests who have a strong car racing background (since this has been the traditional listening audience). As the show progresses in 2009, the guests will gradually expand to include some karting-only personalities, and also some Junior racers.

Finally, if anyone would like to provide any comments or input on the shows, please feel free to email me at briggs57@embarqmail.com as these segments begin. I will share all comments (unedited and unfiltered) with the show staff. I am only one of the individuals who has been asked to provide input on these segments, and I do not have any decision-making authority (regarding specific guests or content). However, the show has been very receptive to all suggestions made thus far, and they are wanting these segments to become "must hear" radio in the karting community!
