  • Rattler 250 in Opp, AL

I just saw the following post on the 4M boards. They are talking about Scott Bloomquist but what I noticed are the number of Florida drivers already on this list. 15 by my count.

Wow! Bloomquist racing on asphalt. I think he ran a few All-Pro races, probably around 20 years ago now.
There seem to be a number of high paying asphalt shows coming into prominence. Bloomquist always follows the money. I wonder if he wants to expand his chassis program into asphalt?

As if we need yet another reason to change the rules in these parts for late models, there it is.

If memory serves correct Bloomquist tried this once before and I think he wasn't fast enough. But I could be way off base.

One of these years I'm going to make it up there...

Yea, I just got myself going to the Snowball and I am hooked on that, I cant imagine going to the Rattler and getting hooked on it - too much driving.

I would dearly love to get one of these "big" races locally. The Gov's Cup has the history and tradition and Speedweeks has the draw all we need are rules and cooperation.

Besides these 69 entries, there are already 53 for the Pro late Models. This looks like a "must-see" event for the early part of 2009.

The only time I was there, South Alabama Speedway was pretty tough to pass on, but from what I've heard, the owners have done a lot of work making this a multi-groove track (and not nearly as tough on tires as 5 Flags is). I forget the gentlemans name (track owner), but I met he and his wife at the Southern Slam, and they both seemed like fantastic people.

Any of you who could possibly support this show, I strongly encourage it!
