  • CRA South and NSS

I was just reading about the emergence of the CRA "South" series for 2009. It should have legs and they seem to be working with the folks at Five Flags and the PASS series so as not to step on their dates.

I would really like to see them work something out so they can include the folks at FASCAR and NSS. It seems like we are going to be on the outside looking in at SLM racing in central florida for 09 if they don't. The panhandle/GA/Ala region looks to have a decent traveling series shaping up.

Does anyone know if the SLM motor rules for NSS Speedweeks will be attractive for the drivers with current PASS/CRA cars?

I actually spent some time over at the SGMP booth at PRI, and like daggers through my heart, they had Fain Skinner's car on display. No Fain though, I think he's off getting married, unless I'm mixing up stories. I tried once again to trade Yoho for Skinner to get him back at NSS, but couldn't get anywhere with it. Just kidding...

Also talked about CRA with them and my aggravation over the Governor's Cup weekend, and what kind of direction they are moving in. Hopefully we can get NSS and some other tracks on CRA rules. At this point in time I think it's the best move to save late model racing as we know it in the southeast.

Nice group of people up there at SGMP and they have a beautiful facility.

I agree with ya, looking at '09, they seem to be the most relevant group, and will have the cars we all want to see run. I'd love to not have to drive 6-8 hours to see them.

The CRA is the ONLY hope we have in FLA. Now that 'someone' has managed to kill the rest of the surviving Series, it may be the best time to start handing out CRA rule books. From my conversations with both the owner of SGMP and RJ Scott of the CRA, it doesn't sound like there are very big differences to overcome.

And apparently, several of our locals already have the pieces that make the conversion.... Rogers, Choquette, Drawdy, Fain Skinner, Jason Vail, Eddie & Nevin Gainey, Jay Middleton, Wayne Anderson (and I'm sure others) had the proper pieces to run at SGMP for the Southern Slam, and the Snowball Derby.

The one statistic that stands out above all others from that Southern Slam race... the top 9 finishing cars, were ALL from different states... yet only 1 out-of-state car even ENTERED the Governors Cup.

Face it folks... what we have here is NOT WORKING!
