  • We say Goodbye tonight to a dear friend at Orlando SpeedWorld

Okay, Rusty can be crazy and wear some clothes no one else would but he has also been a great boss and someone who truly loved the track he called home. Tonight is Rusty last night at Orlando SpeedWorld (although he hopes to come back to run Winter Nationals) and believe me when I say this, he will be truly missed by alot of people. It has been my pleasure to work with Rusty since he came to Orlando SpeedWorld and also my good luck to call him my friend since his 50/50 days at Thundercross. I have seen him in good moods, bad moods, really mad and really happy but he always cared about Orlando SpeedWorld. In the last 3 years, we have worked our butts off going to different fairs and stuff to promote Orlando and I know since I was the lucky one who would make those 10,000 tickets to give away to get people to come see our track.

Rusty forgot his password for the board and called me the other day to ask me to tell everyone goodbye and thank you for making his job so pleasant at SpeedWorld. And guess what, Rusty does mean that. He has given his heart to that track and to the racers and the crews and the fans and he said he will definitely miss everyone including some who have thought he was a nut. Well, guess what, he is a nut but a very good nut.

Everyone at SpeedWorld and New Smyrna Speedway will miss Rusty Marcus and we definitely know there is not another one like him. Who could ever pull off his wardrobe selections anyway???? That man can wear anything and make it look good.

So to Rusty, my friend first, my boss second, you WILL BE MISSED. But I wish you all the success in the world at Monroe and hope to see you in February when we have the Winter Nationals and alot of fun. You have made it fun Rusty and made every racer feel wanted and needed and that is why they come to SpeedWorld. Just be yourself at Monroe and you will do just fine.

Rusty is leaving, Rusty is gone. He is due to be at his new job on Tuesday and he leaves Florida early tomorrow morning for Monroe, Louisiana. Hopefully he will love crawfish, I know I do, and the Louisiana weather which is probably colder than here since I remember having snow a few times in Mississippi for Christmas but then again, I love the snow not sure if Rusty does. But yes Rick, Rusty is gone.

I'm just glad that I finally got to meet Rusty right before he skipped town. He's a really nice guy and I can see why he is so successful at what he does.
