The team of Shane Seig and Richie Wauters has been caught at The Derby with soaked tires. They have been ESCORTED off the property and will not be in any more events this week.

This is the same team that had BOTH of their qualified cars (through the B-Mains) thrown out last year, with Kyle Busch and Steven Wallace driving. Between those 2, and their third teammate Jason Hogan (if I remember this right), that team spent over $60,000.00 on tires alone, and wound up with 2 DQ's and a Did Not Qualify. Serves them right! It's idiotic spending like that that drives the costs up for everyone. Apparently they can afford it... most others can not.

The Tech man up there (Ricky Brooks) doesn't put up with any bullshit from anybody, and he announced in the drivers meeting that anyone caught trying to skirt the rules, would be booted from the track... and he MEANT it.

All other tracls please note this is how you get MORE CARS. Works better than a higher purse, a track star or some willd idea.
If the racer knows that the playing field is level they come. Period!

Friday, 12:15pm Central Time - We have some late-breaking news here at the Snowball Derby including a new entry…of sorts.

"According to Richie Wauters, what was his #5 team will be allowed to take a shot at getting into the Snowball Derby after all. Wauters has sold the team to Eddie Mercer (actually James Finch), who promptly re-entered the race with driver Shane Seig. There are a few conditions that go with the deal though according to Wauters.

First off, the team will not be allowed to practice at all today. Their rig will have to leave speedway property as well and then come back in after gates open on Saturday morning. They will have to change their number as well. Wauters will not be allowed to serve in the role of the crew chief, but will have to pay a $1,000 fine. Finally, the team will have to start at the rear of the last chance race."

Wonder what happened to Augie in Tech?

All I can find on the Net (Sp51) is that he was too emotional to comment after being DQ'd.

I know he's in on a provisional but still would like to know what happened to get him DQ'd.

I read he was to low in post qual tech 1/4 in ch I believe, and the other car dq'd McCurley was light after qual.

I don't know if Waturs little scam is legal , but it shouldn't be . I bet i can guess the sale price of the team . $1000 , exactly the amount of Waturs fine . Next week , the team gets sold back for $1000 and everyones happy .
I can't believe Tim is letting it happen . Makes the Tech at the Snowball pretty irrelevent . If you get away with something great .But if you get caught , just sell the the team and come right back the next day . Sorta takes the teeth out of any ruling the tech guys make .

Not really, it kinda fits the crime. They got no qualifying or practice yesterday and will have to start at the back of the qualifier today. If they can make it, they then start at the rear on Sunday.

Seems like a scam at first, but the more I thought about it, it dont seem too bad. They are punishing wauters and not so much Sieg.

It reminds me of when Darryl Waltrip couldnt qualify for a race so he bought Carl Longs car and raced it.

It gets worse, Sieg made the cut after wrecking Benny Gordon and Justin Drawdy fell out while running up front.

"Justin Drawdy was solidly in a transfer spot early on, but ran over a piece of lead that damaged his master cylinder, left him without brakes and dropped him out of the race early."

the sieg/gordon saga was closer than speed51 indicated. gordon did come down on him and sieg didn't back off. it was a tough deal, and gordon has the right to be pissed,but sieg wasn't the only one at fault. late in that race nobody was backing off. their second incident I couldn't see it was coming out of four and I was in one.

the real story was ickler in buschs car - he was baddd fast! if he is that quick tomm, it will be a hell of a drive to the front. he was passing guys like they were atanding still. made his teammate look pretty silly. he was very impressive to say the least.
