For late model racers wanting to give road racing stock cars a try, a typical late model utilizing a 4 speed gearbox can be converted to road race configuration for as little as $ 1500. Offset cars can be made to work on a road course with little problem. Jeff Emery's, and Bill Smith's super lates are a couple of the fastest SCCA fendered cars in the country and both are offset cars. In fact, Bill's car is something like a 1979 Junior Hanley, probably one of the oldest tube frame cars still racing.

Check out "getting started" on the V8stockcar.com website about getting licensed and race at Daytona, Sebring, VIR, Road Atlanta and more.

I think Jimmy Cope built a car for the series . I remember a few years ago when the FASCAR guys raced on the road course at Sebring . They ran Super Lates and Bobby Diehls Truck series . It really was a pretty good show . I was surprised at how good some of the drivers were on a road course . A Super Late race at Sebring for one leg of the triple crown , now that would be interesting .

Jimmy does motors and prep work on several cars in the series, and Mike Cope prepares the V8 GTA car of Jay Marshall the 2007 class champ.

FASCAR ran there in September, 2002. The Florida mini stock challenge ran, SLM, LM and Trucks. We were on the "club course" of Sebring, which used the part of the track around the pits, but didn't use the slower speed section. Regardless, it was one of the most fun weekends I've had in racing, although it was 100+ degrees.
