I guarantee the two events had zero impact on one onother.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

Wrong... I know of 2 groups that wound up in Homestead, while they prefered being in New Smyrna. One was working the event, and the other had Hospitality Garage passes. There's 4 people there right off the top of my head.

Little impact maybe.... Zero impact isn't true.

It takes a percentage of total headcount to make a difference. nascar vs Fascar 300 miles apart.....ZERO impact. And i could only wonder when people will realize that to event- owners THAT far apart are going to say OMG!!!!There is a race in homestead- New Smyrna.....i gotta postpone my show that i planned a YEAR ago. Not gonna happen. Same as with fans saying tracks should work together meaning running limited schedules so joe fan can go where he wants on sat. I hate to say it , but, THE FANS will be the main contributors to the DEATH of racing at local shorttracks. I've been on both sides of the fence (litterally) since 1983. Started driving in 1991 and quit in 03..possibly gonna give it a whirl again in the next couple of years. I'm just glad there are still tracks out there to go to.

Sorry, still a stupid idea. Unless NSS was sold out,it had an impact.

You can't tell me that if there was not a race in Homestead that the attendance at the Gov cup would have increased significantly.
If they were racing at Daytona the same weekend I could understand the conflict.
There are only so many Saturday nights to race. The upcoming weekend is bad because of THanksgiving and the next weekend is the Snowball.

What about the previous weekend? I don't know anybody that went to Phoenix. Plus, it sure would have been WARMER! I think the forecasted cold temperatures kept the crowd down from what it could have been.

Would the point be moot if there were simply more short track fans?

In this case I personally know of a couple of dozen hard core rock solid dyed in the wool over the top fans who usually attend the Governors Cup and simply decided to do something else this year, and it wasn't Homestead.

For those not there the grandstands weren't bad, we didn't think.
