  • Two days, many hearts for one cause ......will you be a part !

As I sit and think about this years Charity Truckers 200 I can not help but think about the tough economic times we are all facing right now, some more than others. I know things are tight and tough, but I also can see the giving hearts of so many that have already done much for this years event. This is a labor of love for me, it is my way to serve my Lord helping others. It has become a labor of love now for many who have joined me. To others it is their chance to just help, participate and give. I am always thankful and amazed at how the racing family steps up and I now that will be the case even in these tough times. Maybe we can not give what we have before, but we can still do something. I know the Pate Family and little Lacey will be so grateful to all who help. Just as the Hopkins family, the Helmick family have expressed in this years program. We have been privileged to get to know Tommy Hopkins and his family and little Kaleigh and her family and it is such a blessing. Kaleigh's prognosis after last years event was not good, but God has chosen to have her here with us still and she will be there to let us get to share in this wonderful news. Tommy now in remission from ALD and trying to catch up in school, but a growing thriving young man. Folks I can not tell you how grateful I am to those who have supported my dreams, first over 14 years of my go-kart fundraisers, now this huge deal in it's 3rd year. Some of you have been around for all of it, for that I am forever thankful. I simply ask you to come, give what you can, have fun and enjoy being part of something bigger than us. I certainly hope you can come and just have some fun. I wish each of you a Happy Thanksgiving and hope to see you at the Charity Truckers 200 weekend. May God Bless you !

You are right Rick, times are very hard. But helping out someone is the right thing to do. I don't have money but I do have time to help you with the event. I understand part of Lacey's struggles since Alex has gone thru some of what she has with the AMC. It is not an easy road to go and without help from family and friends almost impossible. Luckily, Alex has a fantastic doctor who gives far more than he receives when it comes to special kids. We have been very blessed in that.

Right now I am trying to help our local food bank who helped me a few years back when I had no money and no food for Thanksgiving. They lovingly brought me a turkey and all the fixings and I am forever grateful. This year they need help so I am taking up donations on Friday to help them. Maybe it is only 50 cents but every 50 cents does help and I will give them all my candy money from Friday night.

Years ago I had a friend who had no money for Christmas and I went out and bought her groceries so she and her kids would have food. My good deed was returned when I was in the same boat. Another one of those pay it forward and I do believe in pay it forward.

I am happy to help you in any way I can, I only wish it could be more but my boat is barely staying afloat right now. But time is something I have to give and you got it.

Thanks Jane, it does not have to be money. Time and Prayers are worth much !

      Jane,
I know your situation, as you know I have helped you before when things were tight. I know you give too. My family adopts a family every year for Christmas. One in need we give them Gift cards for food and take presents to the family. We also pay for a Thanksgiving meal at Publix for those that need it. I wish I could do more, but if we all just do a little it all helps. I know you will be there, and do all you can. That I am grateful for.
