  • It's ON! Southern Sportsman Shootout @ NSS Nov. 22nd

Calling all sportsman drivers in the state of Florida. The Nov.22nd support race of the Southern Sportsman Series for the Governors Cup will be a 3 segment, 75 lap shootout format. All sportsman cars in the state will be eligible to compete based on their own track rules and imposed weights by the SSS. I will try to have the finalized rules for the format and hopefully answers to all the questions that may arise, within the next day or so. This should be a whale of a race and I think will compliment the Super Late Model show that weekend. There will be practice on Friday night prior and an early gate opening on Sat. as well. Spread the word... this is gonna be good!!!

Is anyone from the other tracks gonna try to make it?
    Can anyone beat Patrick Thomas?
Is Mike Soukups car gonna last longer then 25 laps?

On another note, Will Nss have tires? I noticed the weekend before last there were not too many to choose from.
Also, has a tire been picked for the SSS for next season?

Does anyone have a set of 8" take offs for sale?..... that are still decent.

Suggestion here Scott. I've seen it work before, and was very exciting to watch.

After qualifying (bonus $$$ for quick time... it helps prevent sandbagging), invert the top 10 for a 40 lap segment.
Then, invert the top 8 finishers and run 20.
Finally, invert those top 6 and run 15.

Lowest point total among the 3 segments is your event winner.

Fans are guaranteed to see a bunch of passing, which is why we buy tickets in the first place!

Plus, any racer in the field has a chance to race their way into the invert system.

P.S. - under no circumstances do you count laps under caution... this must be ALL green flag racing.

I've seen a 'preliminary' version of what it will be... and it should be the most exciting Sportsman Race of the YEAR!

Scott has put a lot of work and thought into this and the Series as a whole... this will be a great way to cap off the season.

By "bringing your track rules" does this mean that the FASCAR weekly sportsman can run on 10" tires? I would also like to see how much weight they are going to have to add to the Citrus Sportsman/latemodels to keep it close to fair.

Hey fred23 I'm pretty sure 10inch tires are out. As for the Citrus cars Not real sure of there rules but all cars will have to be at least as heavy as the sss rules with 56 left and If there were any other major advantages I'm sure the series will make it fair, they always have. I have heard that you will be able to run either the goodyear grooved 8inch or the hoosier 8inch and I know we will have some of both. If you have a sportsman bring it, if you dont borrow someone elses. Lets end the racing season right,Most of us are running short on funds, but I think we could still put on a hell of a show.
