    As the world turns

Another Florida racing soap opera. My favorite series and the one I travel to see most often. Lets pray it does not become another casualty of politics, ego's,greed etc. etc. Maybe the Reutimans had a point back at Desoto. I will wait and see before I judge.

I read Don Rehm's letter asking to be re-elected. The truth is that Don inherited a heathy, prosperous TBARA when he became president. There were consistant purses back then, and they have failed to increase very much. A standard purse is not really much of a club benefit anyway if it's not high enough. There are very good reasons why purses can't be the same at each location. It also depends on "what the market will bear"...in other words, how much a promoter is willing to pay! TBARA had major title sponsors back then...it was known as the Mega Power Super Series and the The Q Auto Accident Series. Both sponsors lived up to their obligations and paid generous contributions to the point fund. The point fund is benefiting today only from larger car counts and more tire money going into it. Don hasn't delivered a major sponsor. Car counts are up because of economics and the fact that sprint cars are going through a peak in popularity. Don had his run, but time for a new vision... good luck to the new guy!
