do you own a message board?

i own all your message boards. you have no chance to survive, make your time.

      1) There was no way for me to control what was going on between John & Rob.

true, they were both out of control. i'm assuming it's Jack that's running the mike's, could be wrong about that though. once it's to the point they were at the only way to get control back is to shut the mike(s) down.

hint: you can interview John Sarppracione without Rob Elting ... you can't interview John Sarppracione without ... John Sarppracione.

I tried going to break so they could calm down and come back with a new topic. They wouldn't have it.

no, Sarppracione was willing to leave it at "it's my track, i'll do what i want". Rob wouldn't give up on the idea of shoving free entry for kids down his throat. and he got insulting about it. that's when it got into a big dick wagging contest.

i agree with the NFS guy, $200 more or less per week is ( should ) not going to break the track.

No one needs to defend Rob as he is obviously quite capable in that regard.

ummm ... yeah. that's one way to describe it.

another way to describe it would be OJ's take on the exchange. you do understand that OJ is spoofing Rob in that post up above, yes?

The IFR listening audience continues to grow every week

well then, don't worry about me.

I have only seen a clash of wills of this magnitude three times, two of them involving the same person.

did you think there wasn't a reason why i wasn't planning on going to Desoto anytime soon? or that i'm a friend of John's?

i'm the guy who pointed out the purpose for a Desoto stamped seal bolt on a crate motor. and the downsides to that plan. i don't think he'd let me into the track if i went.

the point isn't whether or not John is a "nice" guy, it's whether or not you have any intention of conducting yourselves professionally. you can and should ask tough questions. but once you have the answer that your interviewee is willing to give you there's not any point in pursuing it further. unless you're trying for a Jerry Springer show.

ps - it would be better to start a new thread each week rather than renaming the existing thread for these reasons:
      a. it won't be long before this thread becomes very long and unwieldy
      b. it will be filled with posts that don't apply to your upcoming show. this will be very confusing to newcomers to the thread who will open it up to page 1 and see comments about Desoto when they're expecting to see questions about Punta Gorda or what have you.

I just checked in for the same reason... I thought THIS (new) thread was about Bobby. I'd hate to see him get thrown under the bus because of confusion over King John.

And, I agree with Todd. John's attitude has left Desoto on the very bottom of tracks I would be willing to travel to. When you're one step BELOW Auburndale, it's time to look in the mirror at what went wrong.

yes john owns his track and can do whatever he want to
but he was on the show to answer questions and to get some feed back from other people ( fans, drivers etc ) Yes racing at all tracks are off for alot of different reasons. Being a business owner I have and had some people and employees suggest different things that they have seen or have a idea that may make the job or situation easier or better. I don't have to use there ideas or suggestion but I listen and then I make the descsion . Guess what some we used and others we didn't. No one says anyone is right or wrong but good owner listen

My question is this if john is paying more money then other tracks , purses and point funds then why is his car count down. My feeling is attitude. You get more with honey then you get with vineger.

The other is fans in the stands. If you do drop you front gate price there are some things that do happen . You get more people eating and drinking so you pick up some extra money there and if you have the kids 12 and under get in free they are the ones that really spend money for food, t- shirts etc. But the big thing is there are alot of race fans that have kids that would be there but paying for the kids it puts the out of their budget ( once a month instead 3-4 times ) but besides that how about the friends we have that would go with us but the extra money puts them out of the picture.

I do alot of chasen racein about 20,000 miles a year and I have meet alot of track owners and promoter and during the races they are talking to the fans and drivers and watching what is going on as a fan in the stand. They told me that they get a better feel of what is going on. There employee do what they have to and sitting in the stand they can see where they can improve ther program. Sometimes you have to step back to go forward . Attitude I feel is the big key for success

I had a blast listening to that phone line slappy fight between King John and Rob "the Ego That Roared" Elting.

I don't know why you waste our time talking to John in the first place, you know he won't have a reasonable discourse.

And to Rob, NEVER ARGUE WITH AN IDIOT. People watching may not be able to tell the difference.
I've been thrown out of better.

What have you done? I can't hear you............

Ok, to all you haters out there that wouldnt know good radio if it jumped up and spun some donuts on your forehead, I thank you for your comments about the show last Monday night. Like I have been telling you good or bad I want to here what you have to say. You guys like to make jokes about me and/or the guests we have on. That is good! Your brains are working! I dont care if any of you folks like me personally, or if you do not agree with what I say or have said in the past on the show. Remember this, you can do your own show and say what you want, if you cant do that then call in or write in and maybe I will let you do the show in my place for a week.
I think you then might get an insight to what it takes to do a radio show if you had one of your own. Do you have any idea what the electric bill is to run this show? Do you know we have spent over $100,000.00 in advertising alone for this show. You schmucks wouldnt even know which mic to talk into.
I think we might just start charging $5.00 just to listen to the show each week......that should increase listeners ....right John?

Now after having time to listen and calm down I would say that maybe I did get a lil heated about the under 11 get in for free, but I can not believe that the simple concept that this is chasing away paying adults does not get thru.

Phil from north fla speedway also was charging the kids under 11 to get in and he said he had about 40 paid kids so @ 5.00 that is 200.00. If Phil lets the kids in for free next week and there is 80 kids there then what does that tell you?
Well if the extra 40 kids brought in 20 adults @ 15.00 that is 300.00 and the adults have money to pay for the free kids to eat more food, cause you know those 40 extra kids are worth 10.00 each at the concession stand. That gets them 100.00 more dollars than charging the kids would plus the concession revenue, and it really appears to be a great deal for the adults so they will keep comming back.

The deal is is its just an idea, and it is very clear to me that each owner will make the decission for themselves, but that will not keep me telling them my ideas.

To some of the posters that like to think that they know me so well, you know nothing about me. Most of you only know what you read or hear somewhere. Remember we do a radio program and Ce Ce and I are personalities, that is all you know about us. I have taken some heat in the recent past about not racing so much, and yes I wish I was racing more but the truth is I have raced more races than most of you have seen races in person. I have always raced my own equiptment and never really been a big star in stockcar racing but did ok in my traveling series days.Let me say this.....I have really had fun and enjoyed the racing I have done whether in cars or go karts. All I try to do is maybe help the next guy or girl reach there dream of racing, and when they do give them a forum to tell others about it.

I will ask all you folks that love to be so quick to pass judgement on what we have done for the sport racing......What have you done? Have you done anything to really make a differance, what ideas do you have? I know we have been doing a show for over a year and it takes me and Sappy to have a blowout and now you come alive............. Well just you wait till next week haters!

By the way we are having Bobby Diehl on next week and I would expect that I get some questions from someone out here to ask him since you guys know so much.

                Rob,

When your done patting your own back answer a few questions for me.

What exactly have you DONE for racing? Slingin spit in the mic don't count.

I can do what you do, hell, i could train a monkee for that matter, you are soooo far from an actual (personality) it isn't funny.

What the hell did you spend 100k on advertising?

What have you done for automobile racing?

Your petty hissy fits sound like a school girl arguing with her momma, (it's my show and i'll cry if i want to).invite guests then act like a complete (unprofessional) asshole.

What have you done for auto racing?

I feel you guest list will start shrinking.

What have you done for auto racing hero?

                You haven't showed me shit.

i'll await your reponse on your next show.

                  hi, John.

oh wait, this is supposed to be Rob's account, isn't it? better check the IP address, i think someboy is highjacking it from Desoto.

Like I have been telling you good or bad I want to here what you have to say

                  ...

I will ask all you folks that love to be so quick to pass judgement on what we have done for the sport racing......What have you done?

see Rob, you just don't get it. you ask us to be "judgmental" and tell you what we thought of the show. and then you lose your mind when we do so.

i don't know anything of you other than what i've heard on the show. that's it. if you want to change my opinion of you, then you'll need to start conducting yourself differently on the air.

and a really good place for you to start would be to stop taking cheap shots at guests who are no longer on your show to defend themselves.

you could have done Phil's interview, asked all the same questions you asked John and never made any references to John at all. anyone who was listening would have drawn their own conclusions, and the outcome is obvious. but you couldn't leave off trying to twist that knife.

i don't need you to tell me what or how to think. you provide me with the information and i'll make up my own mind. getting in my face and screaming at me if i disagree with you isn't going to do anything but piss me off.

                  garsh, that sounds familiar.

the truth is I have raced more races than most of you have seen races in person.

good God, were you two separated at birth or something? no wonder you can't get along. i know another guy up in South Carolina who wants to be your friend. the three of you would make a fine set of triplets.

I know we have been doing a show for over a year and it takes me and Sappy to have a blowout and now you come alive

that's because i don't normally listen to you. because of the way you conduct your interviews. but like i said, if it's the Springer crowd you're going for you don't want my critiques anyways. i'd put a bullet in Springer's face.

My question is this if john is paying more money then other tracks , purses and point funds then why is his car count down. My feeling is attitude. You get more with honey then you get with vineger.

rj, there's probaby a bit too that. but it's also true that hardly anybody, racers most importantly, know what the various tracks are paying.

we visited another track last year and Ron finished 3rd. the other drivers asked where we were from. when we told them they asked "hey, how are the payouts over there? they've got to be more then we're getting" we told them that they were actually making a lot more money ( as much for winning as we got for 3rd place that night ) than we were at our home track. homeboys wouldn't believe us. :shrugs:

good payouts don't accomplish anything for a track if the payout isn't promoted. and tracks with lousy pay have no interest in telling anybody what the purse is.

John wants everybody to post their payouts in public so he can have an excuse to cut his purses.

the better idea would be to make sure all the racers knew what his payouts were. then he would see what he needed to do about cutting purses after he sees how many cars he can pull.

the problem for the tracks right now is that the economy is reaching the point where people can't afford to lose money on racing anymore. "raising the purses" won't accomplish much unless you actually rise above the point where a good portion of the field can break even. i don't know that i see that happening with the rule books we've got going.

I don't know why you waste our time talking to John in the first place

[ slams head on desk ]

well, i guess that answers the question of whether or not John would let me in if i went to Desoto. thanks, Dad.

I have a question for Bobby Diehl.

For August, 2008 - Charlotte County had a 9.2% unemployment Rate. Lee County had a 9.0% unemployment Rate, and Hendry County had a whopping 14.2% unemployment rate. Regardless of how many times I hear Bobby try to justify the $15 front gate admission, and $30 pit pass gate, for a regular show, I believe it's simply too much, for the average family/person who is trying to make ends meet.

                      http://data.bls.gov/map/servlet/map....nty&seasonal=u

Could he PLEASE consider implementing a trial period (maybe the first four events of 2009), lowering his front gate to $10 for regular shows, $15 for special events, and pit gate to $20 (all shows), to help the people that support this track. If people are like me, they would attend more races, if the cost was lower.

If not, then I have another question... Would Bobby consider pre-selling tickets in bulk, so that supporters could buy them at a discount. For example, he could sell packs of five Regular Night tickets for $50 ($10 apiece), and five Pit Passes for $100 ($20 apiece). Of course, the track would have to write the persons name on each ticket at the time of sale, since that would prohibit someone from reselling them and trying to make a profit.

Thanks for Inside Florida Racing. I look forwarding to listening to it every week.

(Rob - If you read this, I am the guy who emailed you on Friday about Chad Dokken. If you didn't get the email, let me know, and I'll gladly resend.)

I think all tracks are going to be forced to reconsider their ticket prices . Bobby certainly needs to take a close look at his if the employment numbers are that bad in his area . On the other hand , i'm not sure how packaging 5 nights of tickets together at a discount is going to help people who can't afford even one ticket at a time .
Much better idea would be to lower the individual ticket prices , maybe even temporarily .

would it not be nice if they could just let you in free

give you a gift card for 20.00 free gas . free food . and pay late models 3000.00 to win no entry fee sprints 5000.oo win no entry fee . modifieds 2500.00 . no entry fee street stocks 1000.00 to win and if you blow your motor track buys you a new one ..

now ever body is happy pits are full stands are full . perfect world right
well ever one now probably thinking i'm nuts

but only thing wrong with this picture is like our company we go out and do a crash say for hwy patrol or sheriffs dept or local police now customer can't under stand why we charge for that was not there fault they had the wreck

well promoter has probably figured out down to just about last dime how much it takes to operate his race track and i'm sure he is doing all he can and at end of the night when he looks up in stands and see's how many people are there and what he has to pay out he get's this funny little feeling inhis stomach

and after ever one has gone home and he is sitting in his office looking at whats left he has to really love racing

i love racing more than any thing in the world except for my family . and when i was young i loved it more than them because i would take my last dollar to put tires on race car

and hope i made enough that night before the wife got to bank

i have been going to races for 56 years and raced for lot of years . at lot of tracks . there is not a track in florida i have not been to or raced at

and just about ever track all over united states from ga to new york jersey to calf and when a track closes it's like part of you dies from old hollywood -to hileah - palmbeach ft pierce . golden gate sunshine , to four dirt tracks in tampa to lakeland i could go on and on . thank god i'm still healthy and can still own race cars still go to races still work 7 days a week still got good mind and good memories just got fat and and aint as fast on my feet as i use to be

our job keeps us from racing as much as we would would like . we do go to lot of different tracks and we don't have any complaints about any of them

but there is this one track that there is something about it that just keeps us coming back to it it's the way we are treated with that special hands on kinda feeling seems like when you turn off road you go back in time

track is nice good racing always lot of cars easy to get in and out good food clean bath rooms officals friendly no fighting no taking all night to get show on road . you can call a head of time get reserved parking spot allways got tires when they mount them they got right stagger and 99 percent of time the owner is there to welcome you and tell you how happy he is to see ya

thats the reason we race there because we are treated like we are some body weather you are 3rd place car or 10th place car they make you feel like a winner

if you have never raced at charlotte county speedway you need to come on down and meet the most friendliest owner any were MR bobby diel

don't worry about bringing a seat coushin you want need one cause the cars are fast and you will be standing up just little over hour drive from big city of lakeland florida

also he did not pay me to say this or promise me to start on pole cause we run modified and sportsman and we like to start in back if you are tired of watchin follow the leader come to charlotte county speed way

want more people in stands try this

you would have to drop a class so drop one that you only have 3 cars or trucks in or what ever and run either a full frame figure eight class ever week i'm not talking about junk 20 mile and hour cars but good pretty fast class with at least minuim of 15 cars or don't race them till you have enough to put on a show .

if you have they will build them fans will come . do it ever week also get sponser money . who wouldn't like to have there name on fast figure eight car

10-4 Ron, I agree. Bring the Pro Figure Eights back. Get Dennis, Clyde, Rodney, whats left of the Meyers bunch. Plus new upstarts. Full framed cars with heavy door bars. Now that would bring the fans. The only thing is the insurance. That may be a problem. After Bill miller & Clyde got together at Desoto, the figure Eights went away slowly. But it'd bring the fans in. Bob......
