If you can pull yourself away from the message board, try reading the front page of FSCR. There is a breathless article about Matt Bowers driving Dick Anderson's SLM in 2008 and 2009.

My comment to the author of the article: hey, we're not kids. You don't have to talk to us with such exagerated hype. For example, while Dick Anderson may be the driver with the most SLM wins in Florida, it is safe to say he is not "the most winning driver in short track history".

Clearly their race shop turns out top notch equipment, do you really think this description fits? "Nowhere on earth is there such a passion, such meticulous preparations of a mechanical wonder that really is the envy of the entire racing world."

The point I am trying to make is that your driver will be better served by more realistic prose. Jeez, this is like reading the Obama website.

The fact is, Matt is a young and talented driver, he's had the best equipment that money could buy, and now he is taking another step up the ladder. Although I have to admit, the statement "buying the ride had nothing to do with it" is an eyebrow raiser too.

He may be talented but he has a long ways to go. I have never seen a driver lock up his front brakes as bad as Tim Russell did at Osw last week to keep from hitting young Mr Bowers when he chopped Tim off going into 1. This is the same kind of stuff that I saw when he was part of the development deal. Maybe a little more work with a decent spotter will help.

I am not putting the guy down so dont get all mad at me now.

But it seems that if you Google "winningest driver in short track history", the name appearing to be most thought of is Trickle!

God...oops, Mr. Anderson: "Wreck that sumbitch, Cole....he's won the Snowball Derby and I haven't. Put him dashboard deep down in turn three next time around. I'll deal with his momma later."

Matt....er, Cole: "Okay, Boss. Will do....or do I have that backwards?"

Harry...I mean Dick: "Whatever."

I guess you can't expect an author by the name of "Matt Bowers Media" to be objective in this case, but I guess it's more troubling to me that it is listed as a real news item.

Dick is certainly the most winning short track driver in the Southeast, but Mr. Trickle holds that unverifiable national title according to most pundits.

But hey, that might make four full-timers chasing the Sunbelt Series next year, that's if Tim Russell isn't so bored with it all that he shows up. Russell, Colangelo and Finney had a 1:3 shot to win the championship this year by just showing up for all of the races.

It's a shame that that car has gone from the likes of Jeff Choquette, Ted Christopher and BJ McCleod to Ricky Carmichael and Matt Bowers...

The news story about Matt Bowers sounds to me like maybe it was written by a very proud mother .

One of the most interesting drivers ever was Bud Koehler who raced out of the Blue Island area of Chicago... Bud won a total of 1,146 races during his career - all at ONE TRACK... Raceway Park in Chicago...

it would be helpful if they had bothered to tell us which series/track Matt is supposed to be questing for a championship. as best as i can tell the only thing he's doing anything in consistently is the Sunbelt SLM series.

so ... we're saying he started on the outside of the front row and made the pass on the pole sitter? there was a 2 car invert and he started on the pole?


does anyone know Mr. Anderson's opinion on giving a lane when a faster car has caught you from behind? is anyone going to try to tell me that Matt left room on the high side on the straights?

To Boneman - Sorry for the hipe. I have been in tons of shops including my own. Dick Anderson's is one of the cleanest, neatest, coolest, race shops and is a credit to his legacy (and Mary's).

Dick did indeed correct me on the most winning claim. No intention to be an Obama website. Just thought it had a nice ring to it.

To EDM - Yep Matt did chop Tim Russell. Yep, he has done it before and had it done to him many times. No excusses, just something in the learning process. And, yes, he has a long way to go he just has a great guy behind him to get him there.

To FinishLineGrahix - I was corrected by Dick, Trickle probably does have this honor.
