See If I got this in order. (this was my thoughts when I had the crazy idea of buying a track)
You have touring series "A" which you shell out $25,000.00 to get the 8 or 10 drivers that are featured in that group. Then you have a the LOCAL Cars fill the field since the average is 15 to 20 touring cars. Unless you are talking sprints.
What IF you just PAID the names to come to YOUR special race and let the locals try and beat the ringer?
You cold get a BIG NAME or or two for $5,000.00 to come down and race. AS long as you ran the SAME CAR AND RULES that the invader has you can get a BIGGER interest in the stands for less money.
The BEST example of this is the Eastern States up in Ny.Y.. The best of the best come to race for good money in front of a BIG crowd. That can be done in Florida EASY. You could even ROTATE the big show from track to track if you wanted to. That was the OLD ALL STAR LEAGUE formula that was a GIANT Success for years.
Might have to shake things up to get butts in the seats.

So let me get this right, you are asking the promoters to work together?

Anyone remember the Tom Stimus promotions at Desoto ? He would invite Cup drivers to the track several times per year . They would drive loaner cars , or cars built by Dick Anderson to be loaners . I don't know how much the Cup drivers cost , but the place was packed , and i mean packed each time . Maybe some tracks , no , all tracks should take a real close look at that type of event instead of bringing in touring series .

And please place one car and its driver from each weekly class at the front gate every race night .. Let the fans coming in get a close view of each class of race cars , and let them meet a driver that they can cheer for through the night . Rotate the cars and drivers each week and make it MANDATORY for every car and driver to participate at least once during the season . Place them there from 6 to 7 , then bring to the pits for qualifying . There are no programs anymore , and even if the speakers worked at the tracks , spectators can rarely hear the drivers names when announced . So let fans meet the drivers at the front gate .

That is a good idea AJ....the problem is that the cup guys are so busy with sponsors and testing and also most have contracts that won't allow them to. It might not be a bad idea to get a retired driver or two to do this. The charity race that Randy Dye put on at NSS was always a huge fan turn out.

I would like to see Rusty at OSW pay 15-20 SLM cars to run an exhibition race before one of the Crasharama events. Maybe give them all a set of tires and $100 bucks and let the driver and a crew guy in for free to put on a 25-30 lap race. There are 7K-8K people there most of which haven't been there to see a weekly racing show before. IF they see a good race, they would probably come back another night to see racing.

Not sure what you meant by the above statement. Eastern States is part of The Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series. Which was held today and won by "The Doctor" Danny Johnson for a $20,000 payday. I just don't see any series in Florida that is comparable, yet.

Ken Schrader in an IMCA Modified should be around $5,000 or $10,000 for the show I THINK!
The other option is an Earl Pearson to run a late model or another local that has done well.
OZ and Jerry talk to people a BUNCH getting ready for the modified reunion. Kyle Petty, a customer of mine, will always want an event for Victory Junction.
Need to find a button to push to wake up the sleeping to come to the show.

Slinger Speedway runs a Tuesday night show every year where they have a bunch of Sprint/Nextel/Winston ( they've been doing this a long time ) guys show up and run against the regulars.

down here, you'd probably have to schedule it for one of the few NASCAR off weeks or opposite the Sat/Sun that the Sprint Cup race was running on.

You can always work with a cup sponsor to get them to help you get the driver. UPS is very interested in getting their name out on a positive note.
You would be surprised how many would go for a one shot deal that MIGHT become annual.
This is the time to set up 2009. Best shot would be a NEW team that is just getting into it to help THEM with their sponsor.

aj mentioned a while back about Stimus when he was at Desoto. When he would have the race of Champions as he called it the Cup stars came in and run local cars for 25 or 30 laps. Desoto had Late Models as a weekly show back then. The stands were always packed on those nights but I heard a cost one time of $60,000 to bring 7 stars here. The time I remember Ernheart SR, Rusty Wallace, Red Farmer Wally dallenbach, and a couple others that I can't remember. The cars were lined up on SR 64 for miles trying to get in. That was in the 90's and I suppose the stars get more now for an appearance. Another thing you have to remember was Stimus was a promoter. He packed the stands every week. He gave away diamonds, watches, cars. Every week at entermission he had an event on the front straight. When Sitimus he added, I think 1500 seats on the front side and I think another 500 on the pit side, and he filled them all each week. Bob...
