  • Meghan Dillner

I got a kick out of watching Pro Challenge driver Meghan Dillner tonight at Speedworld. She is the teenage daughter of race broadcaster Bob Dillner, but is a heck of a shoe on her own right.

Her class ran a 50 lapper tonight. They started the field "straight up", so there was not a lot of passing. Meghan, however moved up a few spots, then got sent to the back for some sort of incident. She moved through the 14 car field by passing on the high side and the low side. Clearly she passed more cars than anyone else, yet looked aggressive and in control. She ended up forth at the end.

It was kind of cute after the race. She was walking around in her fire suit, but she was on the cell like any other teenager!

Speaking of passing a few cars and looking good, you were pretty fast on friday night. Why did you tag the rear on the start though? Was that your draw?

That was Todd McCreary driving my old car. He and Ron repaired it after the crash.

Unfortunately I had to go out of town and missed Friday night.

Don't I feel stupid, I could'nt hear the P.A. so I assumed it was you. Well, Todd looked good then.

Why did you tag the rear on the start though?

a - because i was put into the lineup directly behind two AWtH ( Accidents Waiting to Happen ) and Rex hasn't even had a chance to drive the car since we got it back together. doesn't even have his pumpkin in it yet.

have to say though, everybody raced me good and clean. the 78 did a great job of making sure that the bottom lane wasn't open ( i tried that several times ) and he would run wider when i would show high but he always left a lane at the top.

b - because the handling on the car isn't sorted out yet.

c - it's a rule ... McCreary's have to start at the back. Ron has to start at the back every race, i have to start at the back every other race. cuz i'm only half as good.

They started the field "straight up", so there was not a lot of passing.

new rule suggestion for Pro Challenge:
qualifying for the first race in the 4 race series only.
invert the entire field from qualifying.
the three subsequent races are set by inverting the previous average finishing position.

Meghan started, i believe, 6th. was put to the back and came all the way to 4th. wow, some "penalty" that was. several others did this or similiar as well.

they can pass if they have too. learning how to pass on slower cars is easier than learning how to pass on cars running your speed. invert the fields and the kids will figure it out fast enough.

do i sound like a broken record yet?

Now that I know that Todd was in the car, the rear starting spot makes perfect sense. Not to take anything away from Rex.
