I went to the 500 @ Charlotte last sat for $29. I went to the ASA in hickory a few weeks ago for $15. (reg sat nite is $10.) The hickory show was ASA but they have so many series it's hard to kep track.

So my question is.Who"s idea is it to charge $25 for grandstands this weekend in south Fla and WHY?

Really did want to see this ASA race, and don't know why the ticket price is so high, but I just can't see the $75.00 to get in, at least $20.00 on food and drinks, plus another $20.00 in fuel to get there, oh well I can read about it Sunday.........

Hey guys this is an epidemic problem facing tracks around the country today. I'm not trying to start a debate nor am I taking a position either way on these prices. Every promoter determines their own ticket prices. That being said lets look at the costs involved to offer a race like this. The late model purse I'm guessing is around $20K to $25K with the other divisions you can probably add another $8K. Just in purse monies we're at around $30K. When you toss in employees, insurance, advertising, electricity and other things. This puts you at around $40K to just host the event not including any mortgage or profit.
This has been the whole theme of Jack's Monday night internet show for the last couple of weeks.

Mr Peters, while I think you have done an incredible job at Ocala and your fixed costs on another post are probably accurate, in this case his purse for the ASA cars is not near the 20k or 25k. Unfortunately the asphalt series don't pay what the dirt series pay. They will be lucky to get 20 cars first of all and it pays $400 to start and probably $2000 to win

Hey Fred, you might be closer on target. If I remember right when we were asphalt those numbers were close. I'll do some checking this week. It also depends on which dirt series. The UDLMCS purses are affordable for the track and also keep the drivers happy. The $3K to win purse is $12,725.00 and the $5K to win purse is $16,755.00. The $3K to win race pays $225.00 to start and the $5K to win purse pays $250.00 to start. The ASA purse is higher with the same car count. WOO or similar series is a whole different ball game. On the ASA web site there showing 22 cars at CCMP today.

Fred you are wrong. The ASA will charge the track between 20k to 25k depending on the car count.

Anybody still think touring series are a good idea ? I can't really say why , but touring series have killed racing in Florida . Other states seem to be able to carry numerous touring groups and still keep their short tracks going . Around here, classes never developed , just let the touring guys bring in the cars . What would make anyone think that bringing the ASA Series to CCMP is better than developing their own Super Late class . Most touring groups nowdays only have a few name drivers and the test are field fillers .The ASA show of 10 or 15 years ago might have been worth the ticket price . The ASA of 25 years ago would have been worth twice the ticket price . Put the $25 thousand on top of a Super Late purse for locals instead of out of town series , and see how many cars you would draw . ALL OF THEM . All of the touring series cost too much to bring in . The money could be better spread around to the local drivers .

i agree that the traveling series are really expensive and that i always loved the aacs races at DSS... BUT!!! for someone like me who traveled all over and met drivers from everywhere, it is so great to have them visit. i havent seen Dustin or Chad for over a yr. Partelo for 3 yrs. there were several i have not seen and it was wonderful having them at CCMP! i cant get around like i used to so im glad they came to us! its nice to also see different drivers .... the time we had the UDLMS at CCMP was another GREAT time. all different drivers we had not met before. its alot of fun. i guess different strokes for different folks huh? ;-)

Actualy ASA charges well over $20k for a show. The payout last night was $17,950 alone. With $3000 to win back to $650 for 11th and $600 to start.

But it was good seeing Carol again. And it was good getting to meet some of you and put some faces with with the screen names. I welcome any of you in my pits. We are always having a good time.

It was a very exciting night. Lots of fans. Lots of good racing. Great atmosphere. We had a very good time. The autograph session was full of energy. I wish it was longer. The race was a good one. I wish we would have done a little better. That #1 draw for qualifying killed us but I think we got the hard charger award again.

Congradulations to all of the winners last night.

I am not trying to bash anyone about this. I am trying to understand both sides of the fence.

If the payout was 18K why do they charge over 20K? Who gets the entry fee, the tire money, fuel money etc...the track or the series?

THis is for track owners(Mr Peters, Diehl and JOhn).....why as a business that is year around (for all intensive purposes) is everything looked at on a weekly basis? IF you make 10k profit one week and 2k the next you netted 6k per week. THe only fixed cost that should change is the purse. I would think that if you bring a "big series" in once and a while and your payout is more you might not make as much profit, but the exposure for your track and hopefully return customers would benefit you on a regular show night and increase the profit that night. DO you look at it monthly, quarterly or even yearly?

FOr instance, and this is second hand info at best....It has been stated numerous times that NSS makes enough money during speedweeks to cover the rest of the year. ANd the Crashorama shows do the same for OSW. True or not, I don't know. Again this is not bashing anyone, I know Robert has spent some money the last few years on improvements at the tracks.

Hey Fred, I don't think your bashing anyone. You bring up good points. I look at it nightly, monthly, quarterly, annually. Probably the same as other owners. I'm not sure who gets the entries with ASA, there are a lot of series that keep the entries, and tires leaving the track holding the bag.

It was nice to meet you as well. Your son is very talented and drove a great race from what I could watch. I can not believe he is the same driver I watched struggle last year. There are some really talented and underfunded drivers in ASA such as Dustin, and Brian Blum who really deserve to be looked at by someone in N.C.

I'm glad I got to meet too. Like I was telling you. I don't know if it is Dustin that improved or the car is better. What ever it is, the results are showing. Thanks for your comments. He was making a good run towards the front. But someone got into his LR on a restart and knocked the rearend out of allinement and the car wasn't the same after that.

But we had a great time anyway. It was great to be back a CCMP. We love Bobby and the whole staff and we hope to get back for a LM race real soon.
