Thanks John and Jane............that is pretty impressive. I would guarantee if NSS and OSW paid that the car count would double or triple in two weeks. And I would pay the $30 pit fee for that payout as well. I would also bring more people again. My wife hasn't been to the track in quite a while becuase of the cost/payout. THe track would sell more tires, fuel and concessions and have a great show to boot.

I don't know all of the classes but I do know that the LLM at NSS doesn't pay as much as the Sportsman at DSS. THe Sportsman at NSS pays what the BOMBERS pay at DSS excepth the winner gets $200. Which is a disgrace. ANd I have to imagine that the classes lower than the sportsman are worse.

ANd I like the additional pay for big car counts. Frasson I hear ya about the regular guy getting shafted a bit, but if 12-15 become regulars instead of 6-8 everybody wins.

Well BIg John put it up....I would love to see the rest of the tracks.

Thats what I am trying to do next year pay what everyone else pays, so maybe I can drop my gate prices to. 4 or 5 classes heats and make some real money, I paid out 8,000,000 dollars back to the driver's in 7 years and they still want more.Something will change next year and it will not be pretty with Desoto Super Speedway ,do you blame me.

What does it cost to race at DSS? Pit gate, pit slab, tires. I think you should advertise to the drivers that you have the best payout in the state. If you were an hour closer to us, we would race there.

What is your avg car count for a typical Saturday night?

I don't like to bragg about stuff ,our gate is $30.00, pit slab $10.00 and that goes to cleanup at the end of the night, or 179.00 plus tax for the year so you can own that slab. I think our tires are less than any race track in Florida ,don't hold me to that I will have to put that stuff up in the morning.

As for the Hoosier elite 50's that is on another post, I will be doing that on Nov 22 08 this year to try it out. Car counts have been down this year as for every other track to. We are just trying to hold our own for now , call me if you have any more questions I would love to talk to you . If you would like to race with us I have 2 pit passes for you.Thanks John

The very last thing on earth we need is for Desoto to become a dirt track . There are plenty of great dirt tracks already . Putnam County , Ocala , Hendry County , Volusia .

John,

Some of your purses are basically the same as Orlando's if you add the heat money to the feature money. The only class that does pay more at Orlando for 12 cars or more is Modifieds and as of yet this year, I have not used it but came close last Friday night. But I can tell you that lowering the pit gate fee helped alot. We had quite a few racers come to the pit office and tell us this time they brought more people with them because they could afford to bring them and that was really nice. Quite a few actually said "thank you" and for anyone working at a race track, you know that does not come often.

I understand a track needs to make money to keep on going but I also know that you can't take every nickel from the drivers. Last weekend I did notice that both New Smyrna and Orlando's car counts were up and in a few weeks after we have done more of the new pit prices, I have been asked to write an article for a printed magazine on how it has or has not helped. If nothing else, try lowering your pit gate for one night and see if you see a difference. It won't hurt and maybe it will help but you won't know until you try it like we did.

i do enjoy dirt races BUT... I LOVE ASPHALT! i dont want every track to go to dirt. dirt racing is a bloody mess!! hahaha but like i said. ITS REALLY FUN... i just prefer good hard racing on a good hard surface by good men. roflllllllllllllllll

Jane, I don't know were this payoff for desoto came from but I do know that the mod mini's have paid $700.00 to win all year long and $130.00 for 9th place. If Orlando and New Smyrna would pay maybe they would get more cars. In the 70's and 80's pay offs were higher and the cost of cars, fuel and tires was much less. Everything but the pay off's have went up in price.
