  • State of the track Onion

Remember when my brain died and I looked into buying a track. WELL those (2) tracks are now being run by the owners since the promoter took a flier. Same guy both tracks as far as promoter.
Modoc S.C has been redone to a wider flat surface and will try a race this weekend. Gordon Park has run a couple with the old guard doing the track prep. This track has had good reviews from the owners as far as the surface and such. I20 is dead as a door nail and probably will not ever come back.
I am a Florida resident who owns property in S.C.
What I have noticed is that racing as we know it today will not be that in the next couple of years. Why?
    1. Insurance increase (liability) MOST tracks do NOT have medical insurance today. That insurance is liability so you do not sue them.
    2. Noise issue. MORE people than ever are on the noise band wagon so that their property values do not go down.
    3. No cost control to speak of.

In the old days you raced Friday and Saturday and if you broke nothing you could also run Sunday night. You ran the SAME CAR, MOTOR, TIRES and RULES at three different tracks. That was cost control.

This little stock market dip cost a few people I know ALL their retirement fund and they are already RETIRED. We, my company, has had a 45% drop in sales since this crap started. We will help out some with sponsorship like we promised but will NOT be adding anything more to the plate till all gets under control.

Track owners and promoters need to find ways of making it more cost effective so the cars that are around can race since the $$$$ is not out there today to build a new team.

    damn busybody retirees.

more seriously, many successful tracks are already running muffler systems. Slinger, WI for instance.

i wouldn't move to them unless it started getting to be a problem with noise complaints. but i would start offering ear plugs at the concession stands.
