  • Odd but true fact I just noticed today...

As I was typing a reply to George about tracks, I spied my phone book on the corner of my desk.. I opened it up thinking NSS would be in the yellow pages under race tracks..

what do I spy is that NSS isn't even listed in the yellow pages...

now I understand a little more of why people both new and old to the area don't know that the track exists.. I know that it isn't a fix all to low people counts, but whenever I am somewhere new i always look to see if there is a track I can go too.. now there may be a statement about cost and return, but if an owner/manager/promoter were smart, they would try and get that ad and a billboard chipped in as a track sponsorship by the local telephone directory companies... maybe even one of those color inserts(like the ambulance chasers, I mean attorneys have) for free or at a steep discount... hell you don't know unless you ask and be pushy asking...

ahh hell nothing but a thought or two from a neophyte....

oh yes, how about getting the local papers to do some free press releases for the track...

ad and a billboard chipped in

you know those brown "places of interest" signs you see when you're running down the interstate?

when's the last time you saw one of them for a Fla race track?

Speakin of billboards, I remember when Summerville Speedway had a row of billboards the entire length of the back straightaway. When the track closed there were absolutely none.

Ahhhh those little things like someone pounding the pavement to keep and maintain track sponsors... actually NSS is in a perfect place to go for the gusto and nail some big ones....

The phone book, where do I start? I have been open since May and have almost 380 customers. Guess how many come from the phone book? 2
Phone book adds are expensive and there are so many different phone books that its not worth the cost. Most people will go on line or ask someone.

For most business' that may be true, but given the percentage of visitors and new folks that come to the NSB and Daytona area that may not be online while in the area still look in the phone book while in the area, especially if they are race fans, partial race fans, or short track fans down on vacation or for the winter...

I almost said "had" but I saw them the other day so I changed it to "has."
