Oct. 4 - "Thundering Herd" returns to CCMP in Punta Gorda - DCKS

The "Thundering Herd" of the Desoto Champ Kart Series will make it's sixth appearance of 2008 at Charlotte County Motorsports Park in Punta Gorda, on Saturday night, October 4.

The series would like to welcome any interested or curious folks to come into the pit area, to meet our drivers and crews. This series has some of the friendliest racers and crew anywhere.

Competition: In the last twenty-one series events, FOURTEEN different winners have triumphed!

Stars: Think this is just a "go kart" series....?? Already this season, 2007 TBARA Sprint Car Series champion Troy Decaire has participated twice (finishing second and third), along with FASCAR Truck driver Barry Bartlett (finished seventh), and 2008 DSS Late Model Points Leader Dustin Chisholm (finishing fourth).

Purse/Payout:
In addition to the normal cash payout in the feature (for at least the top five drivers), several additional awards have been posted!

In addition, the HEAT RACING HEAT RACES are scheduled for October 4 !!!

HEAT RACING will sponsor the two heat races. Each racer will draw a pill at registration, with the odd pills running in the first heat, and the even pills in the second.

The heat races will have prizes up for grabs, that total $100! Each six-lap heat race will award a $25 giftcard to the winner, redeemable for any merchandise at HEAT RACING! The second place finisher will receive a $15 giftcard, and the third place finisher will get a $10 giftcard! ($50 total for each heat)

Think you have some psychic abilities....? Now is your chance to prove it!

The Desoto Champ Kart Series has created the "Champ Kart Challenge" for 2008. Each race, the Champ Kart Challenge jar will be placed on the series registration table. Any driver or person in the pits is welcomed to fill out one slip, to predict the top five feature finishers, in the correct order.

If any driver or person in the pits correctly picks the top five feature finishers on October 4 in the correct order, he/she will win all the prizes in the jar! In addition to the $15 GiftCard for Regal Cinemas, $25 GiftCard to AppleBees , $15 giftcard to StarBucks and $30 CASH , a $20 Hooters Restaurant Gift Card has now been added to the jar!!!

If these prizes go unclaimed, another prize will be added at the next event. The prizes will continue to build throughout the year, if noone correctly predicts the order of the top five feature finishers!!!

And, participation is entirely FREE!!! If the Champ Kart Challenge goes unclaimed through the final race of the year, the contents of the jar will be donated to the series, to be given to the participants (either as door prizes for next year, or to be included with the 2008 year-end awards funds)!!!
