    Speedway for sale

I drove by the speedway today, Noticed for sale signs for the speedway. The sign reads, For sale or lease. All the track equipment ( tow truck, push truck ,etc..) with for sale signs on them. I guess we are losing another place to race. What a shame.

That track and facility is in good shape. there isn't much in the way of major developement in that area and i think if it was bought, it would be by someone with interest in racing and not developement.

Don't write it off yet...there's not a big demand for condos or golf corses in Bronson that i'm aware of.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

Bronson has a special place in my heart and I wish them the best whatever happens. I was lucky enough to write the opening story for Bronson and I went there as they were fixing up the ole gal. And yes, Bronson is very nice and had the best bbq around. Went to many a race there and was always treated extremely nice by Tommy and the gang. They even saved me one night and got me home when my battery cable messed up and I was limping along. Good luck guys, whatever happens in the future.

MAN...another so called racecar driver who owns a great track who has it for sale. Not a good combination.
I hope it stays open, its a unique track and looks like a lot of fun as long as your not having to change out gears ALL DAY then drive 3 hours home covered in gear oil. I hope I get a chance to race on it next year unlike what happened to me this year at Lakeland.

            Great Track

I started racing there regular in May. Bronson is a great little track with a friendly crew and staff. Everything is well maintained and clean. Just can't understand why the low fan and car counts though. From a racers view, it's an easy track to drive and more than one line. On their home page it even shows a three wide race through turns one and two with me on the bottom. It was tight but we never touched. Hope things happen to allow Bronson to continue next season.

"another so called racecar driver" ???

              Not sure what you meant?
Mike was born into a racing family... Mom, Dad were racers, older brother (Jimmy) still races from time to time.
Mike started racing when he was about 15 y/o and did well where ever he raced... He raced up and down the east coast in several different series.
Additionally, Mike went into cup truck racing (RC Cola).
Mike has the "Know How" regarding racing well enough to help put son (Travis) in the winners circle and/or top five many many times.
Mike and wife (Jane) also have the know how to buy a track, beautify it, make it a class track, and run it very well. (in addition to owning and running a speed shop).
I trust Mike, Jane and Travis have big time plans and can well afford to either sell or lease the track to move on with what they have in the BIG PICTURE..
I wouldn't cut that crew short... (Yep.. I've know Mike since he was about 12 y/o and couldn't be prouder of what he has accomplished thus far in his life - Just wish I had done as well).

              P. S. I hope you do get to race there... that track takes some real driving from real drivers to GIT R DONE... many go away crying that its a track that you can't pass on - real story there is "THEY" couldn't pass cause they lacked the ability!... I have seen plenty of passing.... heck, even JIMBO passes others on the low side AND the high side and he's old as hell.

Not sure if I'm THAT old. but 'old as dirt' has been used to refer to my age.
Not near as old as you though 'SANTA'......LOL
Hope to see you soon at Ocala Bob.

                    No Problem EDM

I don't know if I would even like to see Mike race at his age lol... he is better suited for helping Travis... speaking of - Travis is one lucky guy to have the support and help from Mike and Jimmy... and it shows when you see him race and get in the winners circle. I am sure we will see him go far with the family behind him.
As for JIMBO... yep.. old as dirt kinda fits ya.. among other things.. Boy, you sure are one of the chosen few with some of the great stuff you put on this site... I have been windexed before and I am sure they would get me quick if I put any of that stuff up... but then you and OZ are close huh? (hey, I won't tell Virginia).

That's a bummer, but you could see it coming from some published magazine articles.

I always keep hoping we'll see Mike Cope back behind the wheel at the big races like the Governors Cup. You never saw Dick Anderson park his car for good to run Wayne. I think the best education for Travis would be to beat his dad out on the track.

                        U No What Jacktripper

I've been thinking bout Mike back in a car racin against Jimmy and Travis... that would be a great race indeed... there would be no give by any of the three.... my money would be on (ain't gonna tell ya).
Years ago, I'd only go to Bronson when Jimmy and Mike were running there, then again after Mike bought the track.
Also, I'd go to any race where Jimmy and Dickie were gonna run against each other...those were the days... well, those were the days AFTER the days when Leroy, Gill, Bontrager etc were running against each other (oops, throw Fenton in there as well).
