last night while the sprints were on the track signing autographs we thought Bobby had some fireworks... the sky lit up and a loud boom... we lost all power due to a transformer that blew up... FPL was there in about 1/2 hr. they needed another part so they called in and another truck was sent. ..all together we were back racing in an hour and a half... thanks FPL for rushing to help us get back to racing.
just a minor inconvenience in life and we all lived thru it... lol was a fun night...

go thing the sprinters where not going into the turn flat out when that happen.some people may have speedweek flashbacks at new smyrna.

This used to happen occasionally in the early days at Golden Gate ... I remember one night in the mid 60s the lights went out during the modified feature ... when the lights came back on some not inconsiderable time later, the Sunny Brook Dairy #4, driven by Dick Pratt as I recall, was upside down in the infield ... but back in those days someone getting a modified on its head wasn't all that unusual either ;-)
