  • steering wheel rebound

After so many years at Hialeah and other tracks, I thought I'd seen all the ways an on-track fight could begin, but I saw something new last week at Citrus, and it was hilarious.

The Wheelman sportsman cars were on-track for a 99 lap race in 3 segments. They started 30 cars, so there was plenty of contact. While racing hard near the front, Jessie Henley and a driver whose name I didn't catch, got together on the front straight, and the #43 ended up against the turn 1 wall. The driver popped out and he was hot, so naturally he let fly with the steering wheel when Jessie came by under caution.

Then he got his own rebound, picked up the wheel again and threw it a second time at his competitor! Pretty funny, but only because I was watching with a bunch of juveniles like myself. Upon reflection, an official really should have been there to stop that.

By the way, Wheelman gave the fans what they have been asking for: a three segment race with 2 full field inverts. With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, the event would have been better if the segments were shorter. Yes, there were a lot of yellows and the event ran over two hours.

BUT they tried something that looks like it could work with a few tweaks!

    Great night Citrus!

Overhand. Just like Voldemort says, "you gotta mean it".

A certain Fl XFinity competitor did that once at an ARCA race and his steering wheel came back and it hit him in the face, yep he inflicted damage...God was watching.
