  • The Skateboard 500.Far out

So the Governor of California is trying his best to kill cars introducing legislation this week to end gasoline powered new car sales by 2035.I mean sure if you can't keep the lights on in people's homes then the logical solution is make them start having to plug in their rides to go anywhere.Seems like a good idea to me. Meanwhile NASCAR wants to pump millions into reconfiguring the track in Fontana??? I wouldn't spend a dime investing in any form of motorsports in the land of fruits & nuts...I noticed the legislation didn't curb gas powered lawn equipment though so maybe the lawnmower 500 is still in the cards.Regardless the lawns will still look good while people are stuck at home.

Like the Californy voting masses give a flyin' flapjack about racing in general--or the people that appreciate it...NOW.

Speaking of the people that appreciate racing--why not get them out of the car while we are at it? We cannot have them having a good time, er, we need to make sure they are safe.

Plus, the "tracks" (grids?) will need to be fireproof since they have a little trouble with scorched earth out there. By design.

    Problem solved. Bring yer tofu:

ps--NASCAR can race (for a while), they just need to pay their fair share in carbon credits.

      Like 50% of the gate...

I don't know if it's they don't care about racing in Cali

But I think the cars and marketing may need to be changed a little there. You know something along the shape of a nice bottle of Chardonnay. With a chunk of cheese rear spoiler. And instead of Folgers or Coke adorning the quarter panels maybe a save the rain forest or save the whales sponsorship. The ban plastic straws 400 would probably sit better with that crowd than the Goodys headache powder 400 if you will. You never know, maybe the two of us are laying the groundwork for a whole new venture tonight Old School.

Oh and I'll pass on the tofu but wheat germ? Now that's a whole different subject.

Hoping that the pendulum swings the other way at some point. Remember when California was super wealthy, successful, safe and clean? It was a car mecca, both on the street and with so many great racetracks. As the state gets more and more ignorant, conditions will continue to decline. Its a shame...

I checked out your two links oldschool. You and I are officially old-timers; I want nothing to do with either of these new "alternatives".

                Shhh

Keep this on the down low:

It appears that the current USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series--which races in California-- is running (Gasp, shudder!!) Methanol in their engines.

Perhaps they still think it is made from corn, but it appears one of the prime (pun intended) ingredients is...Methane.

So, it all becomes clear now, grasshoppa, from cows to sprint cars, the circle of life is completed
